'07 Tundra, 5.7L Automatic; Recently, when shifting from 5th to 6th under mild throttle i get a 1-2 second vibration which feels like running over a rumble strip. There is also a delay in shifting which corresponds to the vibration.

This also happens when shifting from 6th to 5th.

It doesn't happen when I'm manually shifting, only in auto. It also doesn't happen with moderate to hard throttle.

    Any suggestions? Thanks!

I don't think so. It really feels like transmission, since it is related to the shift, and not at any specific speeds.

    Have your transmission solenoids checked.

Could be that or a TC going south.

Maybe a solenoid issue. Hopefully someone else can chime in. I would think a service may be in order as a good first step.

I was thinking solenoid also, had a service a few months ago. Transmission fluid level was low (I accidentally drained some while changing the oil :( When I took it in for service, They said there was a hard shift code and said it "might" be a solenoid. They said the only fix was a transmission replacement. I told them to service it and see what happens. All the problems went away, including hard shifting in 1-2. This problem started 7 weeks after the service, so I'm not sure if the code they saw was related to this or the 1-2 problem. Pretty confusing, but I'm not about to buy a new transmission based on their "might be a solenoid" diagnosis.

    Was this at the dealership?

I would try a complete fluid exchange or at least a drain and fill. When was the last time you had any transmission related work done besides the top off?

Yes, it was at a dealer. They told me they don't open transmissions, so the only fix is to replace it. Struck me as odd that solenoids were not accessible from the outside, but I'm not a transmission expert, and didn't have time to put it on my lift.

Well of course they don’t. Why not charge you 4000.00 instead of 2-300.00 per solenoid? 0F4E1D97-A516-4125-99C1-B323599F4F09.jpg

Drop pan, and they are in valve body.

I have seen them as low as 100.00. Check out this guy on eBay

Digging up old posts, but curious if solution was ever found. My 07 Tundra CM 235k doing similar, except it’s 5 and 6th. Not just when shifting, but if I give it a little bit of gas. Sounds like rumble strips. No code presently.

Got a code 2 months ago along with trac light, 4lo light blinking…

    P0894(1 / 2) Stored
    Transmission Component
    Slipping

Noticed a light slip then grab at a stop sign. Did a full drain and fill, cooler flush, filter replace with max life WS. Oil looked pretty old but not terrible. No sediment.

Road great for about 100 miles then code then got code month ago for…

    P2757(2 / 2) Pending
    Torque Converter Clutch
    Pressure Control Solenoid
    Control Circuit Performance or
    Stuck off

Reset the code. Then next week noticed the rumbling under light throttle 5th and 6th. Manual or auto shift doesn’t matter. Thinking solenoid and/or valve body.

Also, any good threads on how to test solenoids and which exactly controls TC and 5th/6th speeds?

Replace those solenoids and they will probably never come back. There is a diagram of solenoids somewherr, but I got those codes late last year, early this year. Swapped 4 solenoids in total since I had the P0894, P2714, P2757 and another one, can't remember which. I have 2 threads with the codes. It's been a good year so far. I did lose R, 1st, 5th and 6th.

Post what you find. I’ve had it parked the last few months, just around town drive, couple small high trips a few exits down, still shuttering but still no new CEL’s, haven’t had time to dig in to it but planning on it next month. Thinking I’m either going to get the kit to rebore the bad valve and replace with larger valve and solenoid for TC, but might just say F it, bite the bullet and replace the whole valve body with a rebuilt one that has new solenoids and be done.

Is it shuddering only when TC is locked?
