'18+ OEM Hood Scoop installed on '17 Pro (Pic Heavy)

I know the non-functional scoop isn't everyones cup of tea, but I like it so I did it. Finally got around to stenciling out the holes I needed to drill into the hood for the '18+ hood scoop. Had it sitting on my garage workbench since last week, but I just couldn't get away from my newborn daddy duties. Was gonna do a whole write-up / DIY, but it really is really strait forward. Hardest part is just making sure you have a proper stencil made out for your holes. There are 8 holes you will have to drill into your hood. Obviously you need a drill and the appropriate drill bit. I used translucent wax paper and placed it on the bottom of the hood scoop so as to get all of the holes and their distances correct. All of the parts were purchased courtesy off @Roman. Install took about 1 hour including the stencil. Here's some pics from when I took delivery of the parts, measured and then installed. Sorry this is not a legit DIY, but if anyone needs help beyond what I've already mentioned don't hesitate to shoot me a PM.

Thanks for posting the pics.I kinda like the look of the 'scoop. Can you get it pre-painted in the color of your choice? And will it fit an '18 Platinum hood?

 

NP. And no, it will come just as shown, unless whichever parts store you purchase it from offers the service. AFAIK all 3rd gen hoods are exactly the same.

 

I like that silly thing too. You have to buy the hood kit have your local paint shop prep and paint it for you and then you install it yourself. You cant buy the hood from a sport with it installed, however the sport hood comes pre drilled to accept the scoop but you still have to buy the other parts and paint.

 

John are the little black plastic chingusess what secures it from inside? I envisioned metal studs were attached to the cowl itself and secured underneath with a nut of sorts.

 

those black plastic clips are what secures the black liner underneath the hood. And yes, the scoop is secured via a total of 8 screws. I've updated the OP with a diagram of the parts needed and a link to where I purchased the items from.

Thanks. Nah, I thought about it since I did add 3 little auxiliary lights in the scoop of my Old 2nd gen, but theres too much goin on in my front end already.

you did a great job picking up the holes etc. and the installation looks clean.

did you remove the liner or just pierce through it? im wondering if there are markings already there for the scoop holes, like dimples or slots etc. did you notice anything? i looked at a sport briefly a few weeks ago to get a general idea and much like you said, it seems straight forward. good job again enjoy the added appearance of extra horse power hahaha i like it.

What kind of headlights are those?

 

Looks really good, I never liked it since I saw it first on the sport but it looks good on your truck, I think that’s because you have a light bar in the hood bulge, so there’s no double scoop look. Nice work!

Cheap Amazon lights that were gutted and pretty much retrofitted everything including the LED C-bar. The red illumination you're seeing is the multicolor RGB bluetooth Backlit demon eye.

Drilling those would be the hardest part.

 

Everything was removed. Nope. unfortunately there is absolutely nothing there to provide you with any guidelines of sort. You just gotta go with your gut. I'm sure my install wasn't "Perfect", but it came pretty close. Ultimately the scoop will fall into the already predesigned groove/ dimple in the middle of your hood so as long as you measure out where you want it and make your appropriate markings you should be good to go.

@Devildawg712 what light do you have recessed in the front of your hood there? Looks nice. I have a rigid 30" bar down in the bumper but I like the look of that light in your hood. Might have to get a hood scoop as well.
