Bumper caps and powder coating

Any one get their bumper caps powder coated to match MGM ?
I would like info on actual powder coat color used. IG3 code doesn’t apply to powder coating.

 

Leaving this here for research purposes. I can't stand the chrome on mine.

 

I am getting mine done but haven't brought them in yet picked color. Will update when I do

I just did black because my powdercoater said matching MGM would be difficult.

Tempted on trying to do that myself jus not sure how hard it is to remove

 

I was a little worried about getting the whole thing off, but just decided to go for it. You will need help getting it off and back on. I recall the toughest thing was getting the wiring harnesses off the inside of the bumper so it would slide off without restriction. Also, getting the parking sensors unclipped sucked until I figured it out. The other hardware is straight-forward. I took lots of pictures to document the process for reassembly. My 15 year old and I got the thing off and apart in an hour. Getting it back on was about 2 hours.

Watch the beginning of this video the rest won’t pertain since you aren’t installing their bumper. Pulling the bumper is so much easier than pulling the grill first and then the bumper. It took me less than an hour to remove and about the same to reinstall.

Have you thought of using plasti dip? Anthracite grey is a near perfect color match to mgm. You can probably tape off the surrounding area and spray.

 

I like to get color match powder coated mgm.
My bumpers are vynl wrapped black but I rather get color matched

 

Or you can just be cheap for a little bit and plastic dip

 

Has anyone tried using also glossifier?

 

I'd just buy the plastic bumper ends and have them painted, I've seen some people try to take the chrome bumpers and color match them and some turn out great and some start peeling after a few rock chips.

I went through this when I had my 2014 SR5, I went from Plastidip to bedlined chrome bumpers to color matched plastic ends and eventually just installed an offroad bumper.

 

Thats a pretty good price for powdercoating!

-60 as they are the stock TRD wheels.

 

I also had mine powder coated black since they could not match the MGM. Paid 200. I am by no means a mechanic and have very little experience working on vehicles. I was able to remove the front and rear bumpers alone with very few hiccups. They have great videos to help with the removal on this forum. Good luck!

 

Where'd you get 3rd break light (cover?) ?!

 

I actually took it to a tint shop and they wrapped it for me with a smoked vinyl wrap. can't beat 15 bucks.

my knowledge they won’t match. Just got mine PC black. Plan on aftermarket bumpers in the future
