Always have had a truck. At 15 I got a 1950 3/4t Ford. Next was a’68 GMC 3/4t with a V6. Then I bought the first (of 3 in my life) new truck, a 1975 1/2t short bed. I modified it and lifted it. Ran the hell out of it and went places nobody else would. When I got rid of her she was dented on every panel and had a cracked frame. I’m losing track of the sequence and probably will forget some but have also run another 3 3/4t fords, a1/2t ford, several small Datsuns, a little Nissan, and a couple Tacoma’s.
The guy next to a piece of property I owned was the owner of a Toyota dealership. He wanted the lot. I could have had any Toyota made. I picked the pro. He was having an inferno made in Texas but I really didn’t want it so he made a deal with another dealership and shipped in the much faster, superior, Super White.
In all honesty, if he’d owned a Ford dealership, I’d probably have a raptor.

 

For me, I really wanted an F-150 with the 5.0 Coyote. I've driven 250 work trucks my whole life and wanted one of my own. However, what sold my on the Tundra was two facts. 1) it drove so very nice. I mean it really feels like a truck where the Ford felt like a car. 2) the price tag. My Tundra was 15k less then the same trim level in the Ford. Can't beat that.

After having the truck for a few months I am totally in love with it. It looks and feels amazing. The Inferno color stands out int he right way, and it makes you feel like you are in a truck.

 

Reliability! Also, the highway mpg is not that bad for me (running a TRD cat back and TRD CAI)- pic was a trip of interstate driving (70 mph) and two lane highways (50-60 mph)

 

When i was single i had a Tacoma, got married and had a baby boy, traded it in for a 2002 Tundra, more room for the car seat, 15 years later i have a boy and a little girl, my wife said time to get a bigger truck, my boy didnt have enough room in the double cab and my little girl she keeps putting her feet on the passenger back rest and my wife would get so anoid. Traded my 2002 for a 2017 crewmax .

I'm on my third marriage and my wife loves trucks especially Toyotas, we have three 2010 Tundra TRD 2wd, 2015 Tacoma 4x4, and my 2017 SR5 crew max. I'm in that part of life where if I want something I'll get it. and my wife is in total agreement with me. after all I've done to it she keeps bugging me to get some fender flares for it. I tell her I'll get them when I find some that'll fit on there. gonna get off of work in about two hours. this twelve hr. shifts get super long just sitting here behind a computer.

 

It was time to let go of my 1988 Ford Ranger. Got tired of trying to find a restorable operating late 60’s, early 70’s F-100 out of Northeast area (rust)without getting gouged. Test drove a Tacoma but as my wife was pulling into the dealer from that test drive she spotted a good looking used Tundra. Test drove it and bought it. Love my Tundra!

I actually bought a 2016 Tacoma and was disappointed the night I drove it over some hills, but I still held onto it for another 10 months.
Went in for an ECU update on the weak 3.5 forever shifting Taco and they had my truck listed Under the “specials” tab online for low $30Ks. DONE DEAL

I’ll never buy another small truck as a primary vehicle again. Maybe as a little toy, but not as my main tool

 

I’ve always owned a truck, and when it was time for a new one, I was between a Tundra and GMC. After going and test driving the Tundra, I knew my decision. Now, after 8 years and two Tundras later, I’m happy I chose it over the GMC

 

I work at a Toyota dealership. My truck literally fell into my lap as a used vehicle inspection. I got the keys, test drove it, saw the back window rolls down, went back to the dealership and told my buddy who is a salesman to get info on it, I want it. Took it home that night.

I checked the vehicle history before hand and saw the air injection pump and valves were done recently, by me LOL!! That was another selling point. It's been great!! I LOVE it!! I added the rims and tires, K&N cold air intake and flowmaster single in/out exhaust.

 

I've owned approximately 60 different cars, and I've had access to many others including exotics. I never wanted to own a truck - it wasn't an option for me, I was a sports/muscle car guy. I had driven all sorts of company supplied work trucks & vans since the 70's, I liked them, but I never owned one. That all changed in 1999 when I changed jobs and became self employed - I suddenly needed a truck. I looked at Ford, but Toyota was the only reliable truck on the road at that time - it's the same story today.

The first truck I purchased was a used V6 4WD T-100, I eventually replaced it with a used V8 4WD '02 Tundra (pictured) that I have been driving since '04. Last year I got the itch for a sports/muscle car... I bought a used RWD '07 RCSB Tundra with the 5.7L - it scratched that itch and I have no desire to own another sports/muscle car.

My favorite truck feature is the elevated seating position, and the commanding view above and beyond all of the cars around me. All that being said, I'm parking the '07 so I can drive the Acura my father left me.

 

I would have had too much allowance $$ left if I bought a Tacoma! LOL, just kididng. I always wanted a Tundra, just could not justify it when I had the other daily driver and my Tacoma, which was paid for, was sitting in the driveway. It did not make sense to have a huge monthly payment on a vehicle that was just going to sit there. Now that I use it every day (and I don't pay for it) it makes sense.
Also, with electric vehicles and smaller engines in the future, I wanted to get a V8 before they disappear.
Also, I am 6'4", my son is 6'4", daughter and wife are 5"10, so Tundra CM makes more sense for us.

 

Dang, tall family! Yeah I could see how the CM would be a good option for all of you. I agree with the get a V8 before they are gone. Hopefully I will have my truck for a long time.

 

Bigger truck more room for kids, more power on the beach, better looking truck, my old vehicle was getting old

 

I was never in to trucks growing up, though I had plenty of reason to (my dad had a 1971 F100 up until just last year). But the first time I ever looked at a truck and said, "Daggum!" was my neighbor's 2013 Black Tundra CrewMax just 3 years ago. So my desire for a truck started there, but then last year my family decided we'd like to start traveling and use a Travel Trailer for exploring the country, so now I had a reason for a truck!

Drove an '03 Silverado Extended cab for 11 years, and an '88 S10 before that, so I liked my Chevys. The Silverado was underpowered (4.8L V8), and the suicide doors were annoying. It was very reliable, however. When it came time to buy new, I wanted to get another Silverado, but could not find one in a crew cab 1/2 ton with the 6.2L V8, and the 5.3 had that cylinder cutoff that I hate. The CrewMax had more power, tons more rear seat leg/shoulder/head room, and it's drivetrain was similar to my wife's '08 Sequoia, As soon as my kids sat in the back seat, we were done. Add the power back window, and it was a no-brainer

Besides that.....there's a saying that goes something like "Drive what your mechanic drives".....and he drives Toyotas

 

well when I sold my Tacoma I had for over 8 years I was abled to get almost 20k for I said I want another Toyota truck but didn't like the idea of the new Tacoma having a smaller engine than the last Tacoma especially since I do go camping a lot and towing with a tundra makes life much easier and once I got in it for the test drive it was a no brainer so much room and then the back window rolls down that sealed the deal

 

I've never personally owned a car....i don't feel safe in them. My first truck was a 1987

Toyota SR5 4x4 that ran forever and i kick myself in the ass every day for selling it. I sold it with 200,000+ miles on it. It fit me every where.

My next truck was a 2005 Chevy Silverado (2x4 and a true manual). I grew up with my father owning Chevy/GMC trucks and I've always loved his trucks. I HATED the steering wheel placement on my truck though. It wasn't centered to the drivers seat.... it was off an inch or so and nobody ever noticed it until i pointed it out. Annoyed the piss out of me. Hit black ice one night and hit every single corner of the truck... had it fixed and drive it another 10mon until i was a walking house about to give birth to my oldest.... needed more room and after the accident things never worked right (turn on the brights the horn would honk). I traded it in on a my POS Ford Expedition EL.

2007 Ford Expedition was a pain in my ass. It was fine hauling me, my ex, our kids and 2 mastiffs for the first few years.... then everything started breaking. I'm just glad i know how to turn a wrench or we would have been walking....A LOT! I got the stupid thing in my divorce and paid it off while deployed. It was in its last leg when i had left so i knew i needed something as soon as i got back.

I researched everything. I didn't want a car or another SUV. I HATED not having the bed of a truck to haul crap when i needed to. I despite Ford's so i didn't even look at them. I don't care for the newer Chevys either. I don't care for the Ram 1500s.... but i liked the 2500. But good god the price is stupid for what i wanted!

I had driven all the top 3 trucks while working on the border on the road, off road-dirt, mud, clay.... rain, etc. I knew how each performed because i did almost everything with them. Including recovering multiple BP trucks after they dug themselves into mud holes half way up their doors. The Ram 2500 out performed the Chevys and Fords every time. But all the nannies constantly were having issues inside the truck, it leaked, it felt cheap....etc. So, i was looking at the Tundra and the Titan. I drive a friends Tundra while working on the border and loved it. I've never been impressed with the Titan.

So.... after all that I went with the Tundra CM for the following reasons:

-Reliability

-Towing/ hauling

-Room in CM is great considering I'm tall and both my children are tall for their ages and it holds all the crap we don't want in the weather in the cab and everyone still had room.

-Resale value is awesome
The safety features when involved in am accident are great! (Sister in laws brother fell asleep driving a tundra and was good he should be dead because of how bad the accident was.... the engine was UNDER the truck... if it weren't for the Tundra design the engine would have smashed him).





And it's SEXY AF.....#NOPANTIESNEEDED

 

Always been a truck guy. I've had Ford, Dodges, Jeep. Bought a new Tacoma in 08 and feel in love with it. Put 197k on it and was looking at the new Tacos but didn't like what I was hearing about the 3.5L engine and the new transmission. Loaded up the fam (wife and 3 kids) and went truck shopping. As soon as we sit in the CM Tundra my decision was already made for me. They feel in love with the room and comfort immediately. Bought the truck and haven't had any regrets. The only problem I find is my wife wants to drive my truck all the time and wants me to take her SUV. I don't like driving her Volvo XC90 because I get weird looks from other guys when I drive it.
