Since installing my new Rays in Nitto Ridge Grapplers 295/70/18 I noticed 2 things. My actual speed is around 3mph faster than my speedometer at 60. That was expected and it’s my understanding I need to install the hypertec unit to correct. Is that what everyone else is using? On the shifting, I’m not certain but I feel like my truck is shifting at different points and downshifting more noticeable since installing the new rims/tires? Is this expected? Thanks for any info.

Whatch your speed on gps, mine was only off 2 mph, not worth correcting imo. Did you disconnect the battery after the upgrade?, this creates a re-learn. I don’t think it’s absolutely necessary, as the transmission is always adapting, but might get you back to happy faster.

Are you sure it isn't the other way. My actual speed is slower than what speedo says.

Run the Waze app and see your true speed.

I’m using my Uniden radar detector gps speed and it was perfectly in sync with the speedo before rims/tires. I’m pretty steady at 3mph off at 40, 50, and 60. Then it widens from there. Narrows from 0 to 40. Yes, my actual speed is higher than my reported speedo speed.

    Shifting - I’ll keep monitoring.

I should of added if a re-learn was done, the transmission does downshift very noticeably for a bit. Truck does look great!

In theory I think the difference in speed should be the same percentage as the circumference difference from stock. This seems to be accurate based on a speed app I used to determine true mph.

I didn’t bother correcting it. And, the odo is showing less than what I’m actually accumulating, that’s good for resale no? lol

My OCD is kicking in is all....my computer is reporting worse gas mileage than I’m really getting.

Normal because you are actually travelling more miles than odometer registers

So pretty much everyone just leaves it as is and it sounds like the shifting will adjust overtime. I can live with that.
