Hey everybody. Thanks for having me. This forum has been incredibly helpful. I've been a Toyota guy pretty much all my life. First a pre-Tacoma pickup, then a Tacoma, then a 4 Runner, then another Taco, then my first Tundra (a 2013 Rock Warrior). But back in 2015 I was getting frustrated by the lack of availability and I made the terrible mistake of buying a Ford F150. Yeah, yeah, I know. Anyway, I was bedazzled by the widgets and I bought it. Two and a half years later it's gone and I couldn't be happier. But that's another story...

I replaced it with a new 2018 Tundra DC TRD Sport that I am working on doing a bunch of mods to. I have a Four Wheel Camper on order and so I'm getting the truck ready by lifting it, adding some springs, tires, wheels, etc. It's in the shop right now getting an Old Man Emu 3" lift and an add-a-leaf. I also have some Icon Rebounds on pre-order through SDHQ. Still need to figure out exactly what size of tires to put on them, but I'm a big fan of the BFG AT KO2's. I think I'm going to get some SDHQ sliders as well.

Anyway, just wanted to post and thank you all for the posts you make that are making my life easier figuring out what to do with my truck.

Here's a pic of the new one, fresh from the dealer a couple weeks ago. Can't wait to get the lift, wheels, tires, etc. on there!
    sport.jpg

And here's a couple of my old Rock Warrior from a couple years ago on an exceptionally fun trip to southern Utah where I spend most of my time. The truck is actually magnetic grey somewhere under there.

Glad to see you realized the mistake of owning an MGM colored Tundra and upgraded to WHITE! It is the fastest color you know

    Thanks for the warm welcome!

There were some issues. Probably the worst in retrospect was the resale value. My 2015 F150 had an MSRP about $15k higher than my wife's 2015 4Runner Limited. 2.5 years later, they both had the same trade-in value! Then the other things... The door latches were bad (now recalled) and I ended up having to hold my door shut to drive to work in the winter at least a half dozen times. One time the panoramic sunroof started draining into my dashboard and it would spill out onto my leg while driving. They never fixed either of those things on my truck although they did eventually acknowledge the latches were messed up. Also, the infotainment system was horrible. The bed was impossible to get even remotely sealed so it would suck in dust like crazy. Some plastic pieces liked to come off way too easily like the one on top of the tailgate step. All sort of minor things compared to a major mechanical problem, but I've hardly ever had problems with the Toyotas I've owned. I got the Ford up to a little over 50k miles and I was afraid to keep it much longer. I have a coworker who has had his go into 'limp mode' 3 times in the first 100k miles where he had to drive hundreds of miles going like 20mph to get it fixed. My new Tundra may not have all the bells and whistles that the Ford had, but at least they all work reliably and it'll be worth a lot more when it's time for the next one.

It's funny, I've never liked white vehicles at all, but the look of the Sport with the faux hood scoop and the color keyed bumper, etc. is bad ass, IMO. I already peeled off the red TRD sticker and replaced with a grey one, and also ordered black emblems to get it even more monochromatic.

    ^^^ this right here

Same issue on resale value of my wife's Explorer Sport. $55K car and trade in value was $22K after 3 years. Had no trade in value at the end of the lease. So I got her a Highlander which had less bells/whistles but will have higher resale value in 3 years than the Ford did.

glad to see I'm not the only person that left Toyota and is now back. I traded a perfectly good tundra in 2014 for a GMC sierra 1500 4x4. I had numerous recalls from day one, (Transmission, power steering, rear window cable, reprogram computer to keep truck from catching on fire when idling,) then the a/c compressor went out at 38000 miles, plus it was using 2 quarts of oil between changes. . it lost value in 4 years from 45000 down to 28000 book value. No thank you GM( built in Mexico). I'm back in an American built(made in Texas) 2018 Toyota Tundra limited 4x4 crewmax and I love it.

Another thing I hated about my F150 is that I had to put air bags in to tow heavy stuff. I had put a leveling kit on it which certainly didn't help, but still. It got super squatty in the back and I had horrible sway problems. Never a problem with my Tundra.

I feel your pain! MSRP on my F150 was $59k when I bought it. 2.5 years later, I was able to squeeze $33k out of it at trade-in with 50k miles, a tonneau, brand new tires, and airbags with onboard compressor.
