Can anyone tell me if a 12” sequential switchback led strip needs a load resistor and whether it’d need a 3ohm or a 6ohm?

My drivers side strip has been replaced now and I have 2 chips in the exact same location that don’t work as the rest do. Very odd that it is the exact same two chips and on the same side as the strips that these replaced. Could this have anything to do with the resistors I have on them now? Help me I’m poor.
