500 bucks! Can't find any cheaper online and the dealer quoted the same! Crazy! I got an afe cat back for 500 and have had it for 6 months or so and I hate it. Just want stock back. Aftermarket brands like walker, bosal and ANSA I've heard can rust out easily. I have snow in winter so I assume would only last 1 year before rusting out. Anyone have the same dilemma? Lol

I did a muffler swap on my 08. I love the sound of it. It has minimal drone. Guy's name is Ron Didanato. He can custom build to your liking. As far as rusting, stainless and a couple coats of paint will definitely help. Good luck

Just pretty much want nothing louder than stock. I've heard the flowmaster has the big block muffler or whatever it's called but it would make my life a lot easier if it was bolt on.. hard to find that for my application being crewmax and the 4.7 My stock muffler has a crack in it that was repaired previously to me owning it but the weld cracked like crazy. I don't think buying a used one would be good either. It blows my mind the muffler is 500 for the Toyota brand and can't find it anywhere cheaper..

@dirtydeeds ? Maybe Keith can help here...

Anyway to me $500 seems like a lot for a muffler. Does that include stainless from cat back including muffler? Did you go to a exhaust shop and see what they'd charge you to weld up a system for you? Maybe they can use your AFE pipes and just weld in a quieter muffler?

Seems to me we have a Fly by night weldor. If I were you, I would take it to a shop that has a experienced Weldor to grind that weld out and re-weld it. Your cheapest option. Just my .02. One quick note, my muffler was $110. If your set on Oem, then option 1. As mentioned above @ Keith from Dirty Deeds can custom anything for you.. Good luck:thumbsup:

@rons23 do you know what brand your $110 muffler was?

Look @ post #2. There's a link. The muffler I got was the Sportsman Street 3000, part #3237. As I mentioned above, this muffler has some drone but sounds great. Nice throaty rumble as one would say. Give Ron a call, I'm sure he can custom make one to your liking.

I can make this truck quiet as stock. 760-877-4234, but unfortunately not for only $500. That’s cheap for a stock catback.

But the bullet and bought the stock muffler. The quietness is so much better especially for the baby. I was trying to post a for sale thread but this forum won't let me. I have it on craigslist in nor cal area. Trying to get a little back from this afe catback for 4.7 crewmax and a aem drop in filter.
