Chris, really curious what would you build and approximately how much it would cost?

I’d buy a separate off-road rig if it was me, find either a late first gen/early 2nd gen Tundra that’s just a wheeling vehicle. Who wouldn’t want two Tundy’s?

For a go fast, I would personally look for a built one first. Plenty of desert racing forums where people sell cheaper than what you can build.

    Mild Tacoma

Desert car that you can’t build for this money. Comes with trailer.

    Damn, this looks like fun.

Any of these vehicles could be a total blast right from the get go. If the vehicle gets rolled, scratched, broken, etc...no cares in the world.

Second way I would go if I just had to build it is first decide on a platform, and what’s affordable. This is very important to have good plans if you want to keep to a budget. I would then start collecting parts:
Shocks, bumps, straps, wheels/tires (tires would be last), seats, suspension components, axles, etc. Not everything has to be new or purchased from a vendor. Plenty of people make mistakes or need something different due to crappy build plans, and this can give you pricing advantage.
Now go find the vehicle and start replacing parts that has already been purchased.

Racing junk is a good place to start.

Nice! Those aren't bad at all. I like them all, except maybe the first Ferd. Would be nice not having to worry so much about rolling one of these as opposed to my truck.

Let's get crazy....find a decent T100 and trick it out! Pretty sure it could be done.

I'd go the dedicated toy route, I regret that I didn't. I've upgraded most everything suspension besides LCA's and it's still limited to what it can do and where it can go as a daily driver. Has dents on both sides and is big and heavy. I'm going to buy a Yamaha YXZ that I should've have done in the first place.

The main reason I asked for suggestions, it would be badass to complete my goals of a mid travel stage 2 but it would only be limited to open fast off roading. A long travel 4 runner or taco would go fast off-road and rock crawl, and I don’t have to worry about walking home or ubering if they broke down cuz the tundra will be waiting for me
