    See pic below...

I towed my travel trailer about 850 miles over the past week and I snapped this pic on the road this morning with no trailer.

I’ve noticed on my last couple trips that after a bunch of miles in Tow/Haul with a good load, my mileage is better for the next tank or two of no-tow driving.

I average about 15.3 normally, but after the last couple trips it’s been 16.7 (actual calculation) for a couple of tanks.

I’m wondering if the alleged “learning” mode is somehow changing fuel flow or other parameters in a way that results in better mileage after a period of towing. And if this is true, then why can’t the truck always be more efficient?

Need to gather more data on this.

Winter blend fuel vs. Summer blend fuel.

My mileage recently jumped up about 1 - 1.5 mpgs. Happens every summer.

    Yes. 4x4 Flex Fuel

Last trip was in February, so I don’t think it had anything to do with Summer blend fuel.

How are you getting so many mpg? Mine is a 4x4 and average I get 13.2 mpg. My truck is pretty much stock.... what are you all doing differently?

I’ve had the truck 3 weeks now. On the freeway, I set it at 68 after a fill up. After about 100 miles, I am making 19.5 gal, and I am sure that if I went another 25 miles or so, i’d see 20+.

This is with almost uninterrupted cruise control cruising, not hauling or towing.

    4x4, TRD Off-road, 5.7L.

Surprised you don't get better mileage. I drive mostly back roads, some stop and go.
What mods do you have? Extra weight? Tires?

I’m planning on Getting bigger tire and lifting it, but I’ve been thinking how my mpg is going to go down even more, but hey what are trucks for right.
