Does Tow Haul mode work when the truck is put into 4WD?

I have not seen any discussion on this topic. Question?
Does the tow haul mode work when the truck is put into 4 wheel drive? I have a brand new 2018 TRD off road crew max. I've read the discussions of using the tow haul mode and have tried it, man it is awesome. I only have 860 miles on my truck so I'm waiting until the 1K mile mark to really open er' up.

I'd also like to hear about experiences with this as well.
I would assume it'll take off like a bat outta hell with no tire spin issues.

Go try it out. I'm sure it works. If no one does I'll try it tomorrow on my way to drop the kid at school. There's a stop sign and long straight away that's fine for 4wd.

Tow/haul definitely works in 4WD. I’ve used it plenty of times just tearing around in the snow- just don’t have to mash the pedal so much to get it drifting.

 

I've gone over 70 several times on wet/icy/snow highways. Hell I drove my Taco in 4WD from Ft MacMurray, CAN all the way to Beaver Creek near the AK border. 70+ mph most of the way when I could. Doesn't hurt a thing...

 

4wheel launch is very common in drag racing, specifically diesel drags and dirt drags.

 

I'm just curious if it works? We have very thick sand at some beaches on Long Island. With my old '07' 4.6L tundra I did not have the Tow Haul option to try. Only options to get off the beach when the sand is thick were to either, deflate the tires to around 15psi, turn off all the nannies and gun it or a combination of both. Trying to see if anyone has used tow haul in 4wd.

I've used it several times in 4wd but never really paid any attention to how the truck reacted. Around here if I'm in 4 wheel it's usually in the snow so I'm not hammering on it too much. Tow haul is almost a force of habit for me, turn the key, watch the oil pressure come up, hit the T/H button and go.

 

Can't hurt nothing in 4HI in those conditions. Owners manual used to cover what speeds are allowable in 4LO and 4HI.

Yes. Especially going up long steep switch back grades in the winter when conditions call for it. I use tow/haul when wheeling in the mountains during fall/summer too..Doesn't hurt a thing

 

I'll be giving the tow haul mode a try in 4WD this summer on the beach. I think it will be exactly what I need when wheeling in the thick sand. More torque and low gears held longer. That should do the trick pulling the truck thru basically anything.

 

When I go to the beach I use the tow/haul in 4 hi with trac. Control off. I usually drive 20mph and it stays in second gear instead of all the shifting from speeding up and slowing down.
