just wanted to let you all know that idatalink has updated their 2018 tundra firmware and the factory remote is no longer locked out after remote starting. I had this issue on my compustar remote starter with the idatalink module where I could remote start the vehicle but then had to use the key to unlock the door. Just wanted to pass along this info if you are in the market for a remote start

I had an aftermarket remote start added after purchasing. I just recently added the “oh shit handle” and noticed the installer placed the remote start wire over the airbag inside the pillar. Do any of you know if this is safe? Should the wire be ran underneath the air bag?

I installed the compustar with DroneMobile and EZGO two weeks ago. Had a lot of issues with canbus data and connections. Promptly removed it after a few hours of troubleshooting! Ended up going with the plug n play at 12volt.solutions.com .. amazing what no cutting but one wire will do for ease of install! Added the phone option as well and it’s been working great!

The lack of response on this thread seems like no one is intrested in a remote start?!?

Shit! I want it, want it now! Just don’t trust myself doing this shit! I’d rather pay some one to do it. So if they fuck up I can just hound them on it .. LOL!’

I got the Viper/Clifford remote start installed before I bought it at the dealership. I was having some issues of the alarm going off when locked. The dealer said to bring it in but they are almost 2 hours away. Yesterday I called the installer and he asked how I was locking it. I told I was using the remote on the key. He told me to use the Clifford remote to lock it. So far so good. Just FYI.

I like the 12volt setup and app. Also like the compustar both are DIY i stalls. You can watch videos and install them. Price for the compustar is cheaper $350 with the app module. The 12volt is 530-550 i believe. But the monthly plans for the 12 volt long terms is wayy cheaper. Look at the whole picture.

Update. My alarm went off at 4:55 last night. I guess I’ll need to drive to Idaho Falls to have them look at it.

    Hello all.

Time for a quick question? Doing the 12volt plug and play remote start install today . . . the main unit went well . . . did anyone happen to install the phone module? . . .I'm running into an issue with that . . .

All of the steps seemed to work, but the app still has all of the functions greyed out. The GPS locater works, but nothing else. I am assuming that I need to sign up for the service somewhere? Any ideas? Thanks.

I had a similar issue when I did the install on my CM. I called 12volt and they had me go into the app and change the protocol to DEI. Settings then hold down on the protocol until a popup warns you about making changes, wait 5 minutes after you make the change.

Then change it back back to FORTIN wait 5 minutes and try again. This worked for me an all the items work as advertised.

Thanks! That worked! Must have served as some type of 'reset' of the connection/programming. Thanks again. Appreciated.
