AFE super stock intake system

I’ve been curious on this intake system. AFE had a good deal with 10% discount free shipping, free cleaning kit and a free wireless charger. Was cheaper to order through them than any other site I could find so I ordrered it. It is backordered but should be shipping soon. I’ll update this thread once I get it and install it. I’m not expecting anything so I won’t be disappointed lol.

I like it. Makes the most sense. The TB isn't going hurt nothing by having it there. K&N has a similar setup minus the TB. I already have the drop in. I should be able to order just the new tube from K&N. Maybe I can order the AFe tube...hmmmmm

 

Did you notice any sound changes w the filter? Hoping with the tube and tb spacer the truck would sound meaner.

Another plus w this system is that’s its carb legal for us unfortunate CA residents. Only other intake that is carb legal is TRD.

 

Not much change with sound with just the K&N in. I'm thinking your AFe hybrid kit will. That tube makes a big difference over the stock one actually. IMO

 

CARB legal is a huge factor in Cali. No smog BS....

 

Only up to 14? To bad I already bought the filter. The tube looks badass but TB spacer , really?

 

Also I purchased the dry s filter version that is cleanable and I don’t have to worry about oil. One reason I like AFE.

 

It’s always like that because 15-up are still smog exempt. Once the years pass they will add them to the list. All manufactures do the same thing.

I installed a drop in K&N filter and the truck made an obnoxious high pitched whistling sound inside the cab. I couldn't handle it so I put the stock filter back in and it went away. Does the AFE drop in make the whistling noise?

This kit actually comes w the gasket to remove that screen. I wondered what that screen does though. Must be there for a reason.

 

This is a very nice kit. Very well made and fit pretty good.

The throttle body spacer comes w a new gasket to replace the mesh screen and another gasket between the spacer and the TB. Came with longer bolts too.


The elbow fit pretty good. Wish it didn’t have an AFE plate riveted to the side of
It though.


The 1/2” hose breather hose they supplied is too short. It is 15” like the instructions say. I went to autozone to grab a new hose, cut it to 20” and it worked perfect. I emailed AFE about that so hopefully they fix it.

The instructions that come with the KIT is perfect and is step by step. Most is common sense and don’t really need it.

I purchased this kit not intending to gain anything. Drove it around for a few minutes and the throttle response seem to have improved. Slow acceleration and the truck picks up speeds and revs faster. Also when reving in Park, the engine revs up much quicker. Sound increased but not by much. It’s hard to tell because I have a BAmuffler exhaust. But I can hear it in closed spaces like my garage.

Actually pretty happy with the purchase and have no regrets. It defiantly gives the truck better drivability. We will see if it gets better as the ecu learns.

 

And best of all I got an aFE wireless charger and filter cleaner free w the intake lol

Did you get the best deal straight from Afe?

 

I shopped around and it was the cheapest even with having to pay CA tax. When I bought it it was only 10% off. Today it’s 19% off. So if you want to buy but it today lol.

How long did they finance that for you? Noticed they were advertising only $18 per mo.

 

In post #1 a "free wireless charger" was mentioned. I was like - "why would you need to charge an intake" ???

Honestly that pushed me to buy the intake. Who cares about the intake lol. Intake was just a bonus.

 

You can have it installed today! Do it lol. Make sure you check the air line. Long enough.

 

Ugh im saying yes but if my wife finds out hahah how do u like it so far? Does it make a cool sound when turning off the truck?

 

She won’t know lol. I told mine I was cleaning the garage!

No cool sound. It ain’t no Honda haha.
