I knew it wasn’t the same. No normal human would have a light bar with that much capability, but then again, @KevinK wouldnt fall into the “human” category :D

Next...9000 lbs would be a heavy bumper, I probably wouldn’t get one of those :anonymous:

And, F-ewe on the “unrefined” nonsense....the tubulars are the only ones I think look good but I’m also not invited into the SGU...I can’t afford to do the level of damage I’ve seen recently after some heavier trips. Plate bumpers look to me like a full frontal dirty diaper wrapped around the truck.....but aren’t you into saving time? Might be good for an old geezer so he doesn’t have to stop every 1000 miles :boink:

It’s bolted right to the roof above the B pillar. No light glare. No noise. Lights over windshields are stupid. It’s nobody’s fault really for putting them there since that’s what most manufacturers supply for mounting solutions.

I wrote up the install here
    https://www.tundras.com/threads/kom...h-speed-overland-rig.16989/page-2#post-389058

Hahahahaha! Definitely not human, although I can’t tell if I’m more human than human or a slow mutant.

‘Unrefined’ was probably the wrong word. Believe it or not she wants to keep the truck looking fairly stock-ish or at least stylish enough that it fits in at the valet line of fancy restaurants. My wife is a complex woman - I’m just her enabler. The tube bumpers serve the perfect purpose but don’t appeal to our aesthetic.

Along the lines of the diaper thing, I’ve considered condom catheters for sleeping in the RTT after a night of drinking.

“Valet line” - that’s cute that you allow the 15 year old with no license drive the most expensive mutated vehicle he’s ever seen, and the Lambo and Porsche are in front, and behind you. It’s also the only vehicle in line with “custom” pinstriping and “discolored” fenders

The funny thing is that’ll he will never know what happened when he gets in that Death Star with all the fucking buttons and switches. In all fairness we have to agree that all the valets are shouting, “NOT IT” when you pull in.

how are you gonna feel good about snorting a catheter condom when you’ve used it after drinking?

You need one of these with a long tube that helps the directional stream land underneath a rear tire

I’ll try to grab a pic today. To be honest it’s not a very permanent mount where I have it but is working fine so far. I rested it to the left of winch so that I can access it through the access hole. Had to turn it on it’s side and used some heavy duty Velcro to keep it in place for now.

Hahaha. Yes, nice insurance to have to be able to push the limits a little more. Let me confirm on shims, I may be able to fit one back on to each side but need to look later today.

Good idea to just do it all at once. You have to remove much of the same stuff for the headlights. 2018 headlights are on the list for me also. Have the harness just was pacing myself a little :spending:

If referencing my pics above of light output, this 30” Heise is very concentrated in the center which makes the sides look dim. This is also with my headlights off and just the bar, much more even coverage with all on. Also can use any variety of light bar in there so could find something else with a pattern that works better for you.

Added the SSO Slimline last night. Took too much on for the night with the painting off the end caps as well. Finished at 2:30am with a little alignment issues of the end caps that I can fix later. But more importantly the X20 could not fit with the SR30 Rigid, and the solenoid is just sitting next to it. I will need to reposition that as well.

What did you paint the end caps with? Does it match the bumper?

See some of my other posts. I painted the rear last week.

    Sand and prep
3 coats Duplicolor adhesive promoter primer.
4 coats Duplicolor bumper trim black
4 coats Duplicolor spray on bed liner.

The color matches very well and the texture is tougher than the stock pieces, but not out of place.

Man, that was a pretty big task in a night. I wanted to, but I need more time than that. I got the Heise light bar with mine with the x20 winch. Wondering if I will have the same issue as you. Which side did you mount the solenoid? Did you have to use different bolts on your light bar to mount it to the SSO? The supplied bolts with the Heise are either too long or the one that would fit are hex bolts, but there is not enough room to get an allen wrench in there to tight the bolts.

The SR30 mounted fine with the supplied bolts... until I mounted the X20.. the X20 interfered with the heatsinks of the SR30, and will not allow it to seat down into the mounting bracket, looking like this:

VERY disappointed to say the least, however Kevin has been exceptional this morning, and we will see what he says. Crazy how little room there is, compared to my T4R!. As for the X20, when I ordered I relayed I would be swapping the SR30 and X20 from my T4R, and they did not give indication that the solenoid would need to me relocated or mounted from the side. Right now, due to the time the SR30 issue added to the install, the solenoid is simply just in the space to the left of the winch. I will need to drop the bumper, re-arrange and figure it out. I would like a solenoid relocate, similar to the Xeon 10, but I would have to make my own. I had no idea this install was going to be so terrible compared to the T4R. I would've rethought this if there was any indication the items would not fit, or the space was so limited.. I am sure in the end it will work out, I just need to see what SSO states.

Thanks for the information. I'll keep an eye out for any of these issues when I go to install mine; hopefully this weekend. Sorry you ran into so many issues. That's a bummer. At least now perspective buyers will know there is an issue with the Rigid light bar and the x20. Sucks you had to be the one to find out for the rest. Hopefully they will get everything resolved. Still looks good man!

Hey buddy, just trying to help. I remember on my install it was crazy tight with Baja designs s8 and the warn winch. I'm not saying your wrong or messed anything up, I'm just trying to help, recalling how tight of fit mine was, are u sure u have everything positioned all the way forward and there's nothing that's rubbing or keeping it all from falling into position? Only reason I ask is mine was crazy tight in there. It fit perfect but I couldn't believe it did. Good luck with it all. My experiences with Kevin is he's a good guy and will try to resolve for u.

Thanks for the heads up! But, yes. I mounted the SR30 first and then the winch. The winch butted up against the SR30 and wouldnt make it to the mounting holes.

    UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE
Talked to Kevin at SSO im great length. It seems they have had one other problem with the fitment and thought it was just the winch (Not an X20 or Xeon). The tabs they use for the lightbar mount are standard tabs. The Tundra being so shallow seems to need a little more cut out of the tab mount to allow the bolt to drop a little further down and out towards the front of the bumper. Due to this issue, there will be a redesign (slight) of the bracket, which will basically consist of extending the hole a little more where the bolts slide in. This will make the light bar flush, or protruding from the front slightly, rather than flush to the inside metal wall of the bumper. Not a big deal at all, but if it stops the possibility of such a tight fit, then it is a good thing

Incidentally, the Heise and BD bars are not nearly as deep and "styled" like the Rigid has for heat sinks, and this is where the issue is, the Light bar. It is all a learning experience, and I have to commend Kevin at SSO for being right there with me and taking the time. They have been excellent, and ever offered a discount that I declined, as the money doesnt mean as much as the support and empathy.

I will drop the bumper, use a dremel to bring the tab mount forward a little, and figure out the relocation of the solenoid to a better more aesthetically appealing position (for my peace of mind).

    Hope this dialogue helps everyone!

Thanks for the support and suggestions :)

Looks really good but sorry to hear about the hassle with installation.

Glad to hear they have been good to work with. The rigid must be a good deal deeper as the Heise didn’t cause any issues at all. I do think they should update their guidance though regarding solenoid relocation. They clearly state you need to relocate for the Xeon and as you and I have seen, the X2Os also require you to do the same. It would be better to just set the expectation that nearly all winches will require you to find another spot for the box, there just isn’t much room between the top of the sso bumper and the oem bumper.

question for you guys that have already installed your SSO and x20. I started installing my winch in the SSO. I rotated the clutch lever 90 degrees, so that I can access it easily through the opening. Freespool is good, but I noticed that I can not turn the lever completely to the engaged position because the lever hits the Heiss light bar. It's engaged, but there's about an inch more it can go to be completely engaged to the stopping point. Is this a concern? Should I rotate the clutch back to the top position and be forced to jam my hand up in the access hole to move it to freespool or engaged?

On another note I do have room between the winch and the light.

Not sure if it’s an issue to not have it rotated all the way over, maybe it’s ok if still free spooling and engaging ok as you have it. I left mine in the standard position and have to jam my hand up in the access hole to move it. It isn’t too bad.
