    Hi all. Just got my first Toyota pickup. 2013 DBL cab Texas Edition 4.6 Tundra in SSM. 63K and so far it has not put a foot wrong. Of course there are the usual "gripes" including rusty negative battery cable (gonna replace it this weekend) and the terrible gas mileage (my lead foot!). Beast mode is...childish and that why I love it! Had it for under a month and already have interior and bed lighting switched to LED and bought some used chrome door handles and mirror caps from a local guy, which will eventually be installed. The ONLY issue with the truck is that the pervious 2 owner's used automated car washes....a lot! So the clear coat on the wheels is yellow and flaking off. No sure what I'm going to do about that just yet. Anyways, thanks for providing such a great and informative site!

    SBS, just took some of the wheels. This is what happens to clear coat when you over-use the drive through automated car wash. You can flake off the cc with your fingernail.
    May end up having them restored or just polish them or maybe buy 4 20" carved alloy wheels ($140.30 each). Thoughts?

    SBS, thanks for your help and I agree with your assessment. Since they are "diamond cut" spokes. What would be the best way to prepare the surface for the powder coater/painter? I'm not sure an abrasive scrubby is the best solution. Maybe a chemical wash once the flaking cc has been mechanically removed? Choices, choices.
