30" bar is cheaper and probably all I need.
40" is more light, fills the grill, and projects from a higher level.

Either light would be a @Baja Designs S8 in driving/combo.

Lights in the fake hood scoop require cutting (permanent modification). My other option is 30" in the lower grille, or do you mean in the grille, not the bumper?

FWIW, the piece that has the fake hood scoop isn't a horribly expensive part, so if you did mount there and had to return the truck to stock, all you would have to do is replace that piece. Just a thought...

IMO in the lower grill will be a cleaner install. It does not involve running and wire down the hood shock to the battery.

To be clear I'm debating between this (option 1):

    upload_2018-3-14_16-49-18.jpg

and this - the bar under TOYOTA (option 2):

I'd go behind the grille if possible to reduce the risk of theft. If that means going with a 40" then that would be my recommendation. As you know, the Baja Designs lights are expensive and I wouldn't want to risk having my VERY nice light sitting in the open like this:

For anyone with "Option 2", how much light is blocked from the grille? Is it noticeable?

Option 1 looks factory built. Nice and clean. Option 2 looks more off road. Take into conaideration if your adding a bumper or Bambi buster later if it will still work. Both choices are a winner winner chicken dinner.

I did both. If it's a trd pro grill you can't go wrong either way in my opinion. My limited grill blocks alot of the light.

I notice no blockage. I have both. Not real expensive ones but for as often as I use them I did not want to spend big bucks. Only problem with going behind is cleaning them. 42" and 32" in mine.
