I had a Toyota Tercel in the mid 80s. The same thing happened, the filler cap was left out during an oil changed and it was missing for quite awhile. I dont think it did any damage to the engine because that car lasted another 15+ years after that.

my service advisor was very apologetic on the phone, dropping truck off tomorrow and getting a loaner. Update coming.

hate to say this but you probably improved the longevity of the truck! think of it as non-selective rust proofing!

Unfortunately this type of stuff has become more common with the demand customer service culture and quick lubes.

People want wait for an oil change in 30 minutes and expect a thorough inspection and job done while paying the minimum possible.

To meet the demand they hire a bunch of kids at nothing an hour with minimum training. My advice - get friendly with a tech you trust, throw a case of beer on the passenger seat, drop the truck off, and request them every time.

I'd imagine there is a lot of pressure for the techs to get 'em in and get 'em out!

I do my own. Therapy for me and I know it was done right. Need this truck to last a long time (unless the next Pro is totally bad ass and has a Cadillac ride with Cadillac seats and awesome stereo and factory supercharger at which point I want it to last for the NEXT owner!).

Everything ordered to do my own. I’m not even going to take advantage of the 2/25.
6 OEM oil filters for 25 bucks. All the tools to make it easier ordered.
By the time I drive over to the dealership, wait while a hack molests my truck and then drive home I will have wasted more time then just spending two hours taking my time and doing it right.

Dang sounds like they probably forgot to drain the old oil and just poured new right on top. Good decision making them change again!!!!
