I'm with State Farm for everything claim free but they raise my premium about $12 about every period. How does this coverage look to you? Is it adequate? Anything I should add? My agent tells me I will get a 15% discount this coming October for claim free.
    Sorry about the sideway pic.

Sorry for the dumb question but is this the annual (six month) premium or monthly?

We use Country Financial here in OR and that's about the same coverage I have on my 2018 Tundra and my wife's 2010 Mazda Cx-9. We pay $650/6mo for both vehicles and also have our homeowners insurance through the same company. Overall they were wayyyy cheaper than any other quote we got, but we've been getting slight increases in premiums every renewal even though neither of us have ever had any tickets or accidents. We get the same "more people are driving and getting in accidents, so we have to raise everyone's premiums" schpeel at every renewal.

Only advice I have for you is to up your policy to 300/500 or 500/500. If you really want to be covered, then get an Umbrella policy for 1M. That usually costs 2-350 per year.

One serious accident, medical bills rack up to 500,000.00 real quick...like in 8 days of ICU for one person.

I speak from experience, and I always had 100/300 coverages. Never again.

Different state and all but I'm nowhere near that rate. I usually average around the $1500 mark for my wife's SUV as well as my truck. Coverage is about the same.

Good advice here, I recently did this to my insurance. The 1m Umbrella runs me $22month as well.

Does it make a difference in the premium if the truck is paid off?

Either way. What if someone slams into you with minimal insurance?

Now days, vehicles are still the cheapest item in accidents, but do take up a lot of money.

One of my friends got into his umbrella policy. He totaled a rare Porsche and his F350. Vehicles alone were almost 300K. The driver was moderately injured as well.

For us to move up our premiums to 500/500 was like 3.00 per month. Trust me, you never want to be in the under insured chair with the dunce hat on.

Great question. My insurance premiums didn’t change. The Tacoma is still the most expensive vehicle in my household to insure.

I don’t think it does. I have the title to my 2017 Limited and the monthly premium is the same.

Most vehicle insurance policies are under 25k per person, per accident. Then your personal health insurance covers...if you have insurance.

Ah gotcha. Yeah reading this I’m wondering if the 50/100/50 policy is enough. I might look into a $1mm umbrella policy

Not even close. Let’s say you run into me while towing my TJ and it is a total loss due to damage.

My truck was still booked at recently for 54000.00 used. Trailer 4500.00, Jeep is almost 30,000.00 in receipts. So we are at 88,000.00 just in my vehicles, and let’s be honest here. My truck is pretty common, nothing special about it.

I might add, some of the people I off-road with have 100k+ Jeeps or buggies. I’m a towing nazi, but I also have seen some pretty bad accidents involving towed vehicles.

Could you imagine running into a Porsche 918 (what Paul Walker died in) or high end stallion car? We have these kind of cars all over the place in CO. Been seeing a few Lambos lately.

    State farm here

    500,000/750,000/500,000

No uninsured motorist since here in Oklahoma it does not cover someone with no insurance at fault.
No rental, had it, probably should add it back.
No loss of income, did not know that was a option, need to contact my agent about that

6 month policy is $600 and that's with a no ticket, no accident multiple policy discount, I have home owners with them as well.

I know its been said repeatedly now but I'll say it again. Get and umbrella. It will not only cover you in an auto claim but it will cover you for all liability situations so long as the regular underlying policy meets some conditions. For me it means, my house, cars, boats and 4 wheeler all fall under the umbrella.

If you want to lower your costs across the board, think about upping your deductibles on everything. I run $1K on cars much more on property and over the years it has saved me quite a bit. You just need to make sure you can cover it if you need to.

I'm in New Orleans and I'm $1190 for a 2016 Tundra and 2007 Sequoia very 6 months. I think the I'm in New Orleans part is the key to my rates.

Mine was like 3.00 per month to up from 300K coverage's to 500K. I need this coverage to have an Umbrella policy.

Most umbrella policies require a certain minimum limit on auto, home and other rec vehicle policies. If your underlying policies don’t meet the minimum required by your umbrella, then a “gap” exists. The big dollars on a claim are injuries or aledged injuries. People sue all the time, some legitimate others not so. Either way, lawyer fees are high and claims usually settle, but it’s better when your insurance pays rather than you.

No, but it does give you that option to only get a Liability policy, no collision coverage on your vehicle. So if an accident is your fault the repairs on on you, but the premiums are much less. This type of policy is considered more when your vehicles value has depreciated to a point where it doesn't make sense to get full coverage anymore.

Thanks for all the posts...I changed to 250,000/500,000 on all vehicles and added the 1million umbrella. Umbrella is $127 per year and the extra coverage for 3 vehicles went up a total of $20.01 every 6 mo.
Peace of mind is so worth the few extra dollars!
Plus i am getting a 15% discount on auto ins. for the next period for accident free and state farm now offers to do an auto ins. re-rate based on credit based insurance score so our auto premiums might go down even more....they can not go up.
Dont text and drive...i never have.

I also upped our limits to 300/500. Only $40 for six months since we’re both in our 20s still. I’ll have to look at an umbrella policy as well
