Are there any updates on the HVAC issues? Mine is coming Tuesday and I can't decide if I'm going to keep it. Is there anyone with Limited or 1794's that aren't having problems. My stock unit is having issues, rebooting randomly etc. so I guess I'll give it a shot

I am in the same boat. Not an issue for me. I can wait for the fix.

So my unit came today. If you order express it is actually damn fast! The build quality is better than i expected. When i first hooked it up the sound was way to loud. Level 4 was full blast. I had always heard that when you take out your old HU you should turn the volume up all the way before removing it. So i did that and it caused the high volume. So i put the old one back in, put the volume in the middle and started over again. Now the volume is normal. Buuuut, in the process of removing the new HU somehow the OBD wire got snagged on something and pulled out of the connector. There are two wires coming out of the OBD plug to another little plug that connects to a pigtail which is connected to the wire harness. My problem is the freaking wires change colors at the connector. Does anyone have an idea which wire goes where?? Without this plugged in I've lost steering wheel controls and have some random lights on the dash, faults etc. I figured this was just for reading engine diagnostics etc but i guess not.

Can you send a pic of the wire in question?

Thanks for the reply. I figured it out, There was a bent pin on the main harness that was causing the mess. What is the consensus on the best way to fix the aqua lights?

Check on post #929 and #969 on this thread, its the way i took care of the lights. There are a few other ways to change the color/brightness of the lights performed by other member's.

Ok, thanks I'll try that this weekend. I still can't get the time to set and stay after reboot. Nav button won't work either, even after going into settings and can't program steering wheel controls. Only volume works. And is there a trick with the radio? I only get one station. Sorry for the loaded post!

First post to a thread I have been following for a while. Seriously, great work on this! Has anyone figured out a viable option for true bluetooth connectivity? I'm still keeping my fingers crossed for an Android Auto integration, but it doesn't look like they are interested in that update yet. I currently have the Pioneer 4200nex and Android Auto is great for hands free notifications and replying but I think direct phone connection or true bluetooth is needed. Any ideas?

Anyone have one up for sale? They only have the 1GB for $700 and I assume the group buys aren't going on anymore

As of right now, there is no update for the a/c controls. The developers have tried to find the problem with the trucks in China, but they are programmed different over there. So, they can not replicate the problem. They are sending someone to the USA to install one on a truck here and to isolate the problem. Once they do that, then they can write in some code that will fix the issue and put out an update that will correct the problem. That being said, as long as your a/c & heat still work, it is just a minor annoyance. It will get fixed, just wait one it. I have one in my sr5, so I dont have the a/c problem. But, I can understand what you are going through. I am the originator of the group buys for this unit. I love mine. That does not mean that it couldn't be better. But, for it being a first to market, I think it is pretty good. I also have a hot spot in my truck, so I always have wifi, which is very convenient. If you are on the fence on this unit, get it. If you are slightly unhappy with it, just wait, there will be more updates coming. It can only get better. Especially if we keep voicing our opinions on it and giving suggestions on how to make it better. And, just so you know, one of the sellers is a member of this forum and sees all the posts. So, be sure to voice your concerns.

With all that being said, there is another group buy for this unit for those of you interested and who want one.
Right now, get $133 off the original price. I do not know how long they will have this group buy, so it is best to get in while you can.
For $599, this unit could be yours.
Go to the website and use code P30TunDJM to get yours now with free shipping.
This is for the 2g 32g storage. If you want the 64g storage, it will be $100 more and you will need to contact the seller before you pay.
Or, just get an external hard drive and put it in your glove box to store all your movies and music.

And, if you did not know, we have a facebook page solely dedicated to this unit. There is a lot of useful info on there that some of you here have not figured out yet.
One of those being, if you install Nova Launcher, whether you use it or not, will solve a few of the quirks that you might have with the unit.
Go here to join and learn, and to share what you know about this unit.

The HVAC controls issue has not yet been resolved. They are sending someone here to the USA to solve the problem. See my post about about this.
But, you will still have a/c and heat. The issue is that the numbers that show on the unit are a little whack. You will only get one or two settings for a/c, like 34 and -19.
And one or two for heat, like 148. Something like that. Think of it like in an older car where you had a dial that went from red to blue, or really cold to really hot.
You usually keep it on really cold anyway in the summer. Or really hot in the winter. And, the air never stopped blowing until you either shut the air off completely or turned the car off.
This is what the situation is. And, it only affects the trucks with dual zones. Your air still works, you just cant set it to a specific temp degree. Kind of like the older cars. Once you think of it that way, there really isnt much of a problem. Just remember, they will fix it. And, all it takes is a line of code. They just need to know where to put that line in amongst the millions of lines that are already there.

Anyone with the Phoenix Tesla head unit interested in installing a front camera? I did mine last night and it was very easy.

Not good directions with the cam unless you are Chinese. If you can wait a day or so i can do a wright up on the in stall. Very easy to install. I'm checking to see if i can get it to turn on the front cam when the speed is below 5mph like the new Highlander i test drove. Also doing research on filling the last cam spot with one that can pan, zoom with night vision.

If you have time to install the cam befor or during the head unit installation. I orderd this cam> https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00P2EN5J2
Take the four bolts and two plastic clips off the top of you grill to install the cam. The cam comes with a plastic washer to keep it centerd but you need to install a washer to prevent it from breaking. The plastic washer in this picture should be reversed and add a 1/4" over it to make a proper fit in the emblem.
    20180305_182643.jpg
    20180307_091436.jpg
After cam install i ran the wire along the drivers side around the side of the battery
    20180307_091731.jpg
At this point i connected the power supply section to the cam, i put a small amount of die electric grease in the plug holes then taped the plug together.20180305_194144.jpg
Next i pulled the two floor covers off
    20180307_091917.jpg

Then remove this plastic nut and pull to the rear to take this cover off>
    20180307_092017.jpg

for access the main electrical grommet >
    20180305_195957.jpg
Then use a about a 3' piece of wire and attach it to the extension cam cable>
    20180305_200035.jpg
Then i put electrical tape over it and used fantastic on both the cable and grommet>
    20180305_200818.jpg
Then take the wire and poke it through this hole>
    20180307_095948.jpg
Go to the engine compartment and pull the wire till it stops then check if the cable is started in the grommet ok. Then wrap a screwdriver on the wire and give it a tug through the grommet.
Now out near the battery and fuse box connect the yellow cam cable and red power cable. On the power cable i used a crimp connector along with shrink tube. Find a place to mount the black ground wire, i used the one just off the battery. Then i used a cable shroud for all the wires under the hood for extra protection.
Next i removed the center speaker>
    20180307_092216.jpg

and used the 3' piece of wire to pull the cam cable from the floor. Wonce you get the cable up zip tie under dash taking care to make sure nothing will interfere with the emergency brake pedal.
Then i taped the extra cable and zip-tied it out of the way>
20180307_102623.jpg leaving around 6"of cable to connect here>
    20180305_220329.jpg
Then turn HU on and test the cam.
Time to compleate install should be about 1 to 1 1/2 to complete, i was drinking beer so i didn't keep track of the time. Cheers

I just found this item from Phoenix Android

Any word on the Chinese team figuring out an update? I wonder if they ever made their trip state-side to investigate software updates...

Ouch! Thanks for taking one for the team. I really hope support hasn't died on this unit. I would bet that it'll be easier to update the hardware at this point rather than try to update a 4 year old Android OS version. It looks like the components they used to build the HUD are no longer supported by Google and can't be updated officially. Fingers crossed, though.
