    my brother called today to let me know that 3 weeks ago our father had been diagnosed with stage 4 brain cancer. i haven't seen or spoken to my father in nearly 3 years. he told my brother not to tell me. said he didn't want me around. my brother, who, like the rest of humanity, has more common sense than our father, felt that i had a right to know. there are two aggressive tumors on his brain stem and it's moving pretty fast. he's at home on 24/7 morphine and hospice. based on what my brother said, i'm guessing he'll be gone in 2-3 weeks. i have some phone calls to make this evening to sort out if, and when, i should go to orange county.

    not sure how much more stress and pressure i can take right now. just a bit overloaded.

    I love Zion! If it was warmer I'd recommend hiking the Narrows and Angel's Landing.

    I've camped there several times. Once I didn't use a tent and woke up to a skunk curled up on my sleeping bag! Those were some tense moments until he decided to move along. Now I use a tent when I go camping.

    Bryce is so cool, but the best part is the view from the the top near the parking lot. I always recommend that people go see it, but plan on being there for just a few hours then move on to the other parks.

    Sounds like a fun trip.
