I'm working on a deal on silver 18 crewmax 4.6 V8. 37k out the door. My question is that it's the only tundra I seen that has the gear shifter by the steering wheel and not in the middle by the arm rest? Can someone explain why? Also can anyone post there crewmax 4.6 pictures or direct me to a post!! Also want to hear any feedback back on the 4.6 tundras!!!

I think sr5s always have the column shifter and the trim packages above it have it on the console but I could be wrong.

As far as reviews, every single person it who got a 4.6 wishes they paid a little more for the 5.7. Think long and hard about what your uses for the truck are going to be and if there’s any possibilty you’ll eventually regret it. Resale value included

Well I'm using it as my daily driver. I'm not going to haul anything big. Moving furniture, landscaping and that's pretty much it. Isn't this the same motor as the gx 460 Lexus?

The SR and SR5 come with column shifter and bench. The SR5 Upgrade package gets gets captains chair, floor shifter and 38 gal gas tank.

I would try to get the 5.7 for that price.

Crewmax is really important to me, room for my family , and the lowest prices crewmax with 5.7 is $4k more and then it's out of my budget, and half a year ago I already purchased a brand new highlinder xle, and in December we just bought a house, so I'm on a budget.

From the three I've had the 1st was a SR5 and a column shift because of the front bench seat. The other two had bucket seats and we're floor shifters. It could be bench=column/buckets=floor? That's just from my experience.

Not sure how it is in an '18 but in my '10 with a column shift the front drivers and passengers seats are the same as a model with the console shift it is just the center console or seat that is different. I prefer the column shift myself.

If you don't tow or tow anything heavy the 4.6 is fine. Don't buy for MPG reasons because they are just not that much better. Stay within your budget and don't listen to people that tell you you have to have this or that. If you plan to keep for quite awhile then resale is not as much a concern. If you were buying a Tacoma people on the Tacoma forum would be telling you that you have to have a 4x4.

    None. Keeping this one stock.
Seriously man. You'e buying a big v8. Why miss out on nearly 100hp to give up 2 mpg? The 4.6 is a rare thing to see in a crewmax. Had a buddy who bought one when they offered the same v6 as in Tacoma. He regretted it nearly immediately.

    none yet!!
I was on a budget myself so I got the 4.6 as I plan on keeping it till wheels fall off, I don’t do any heavy hauling or off-roading. I’m happy with it no regrets.

If you haven’t bought the truck yet look up the dealership invoice price and negotiate that. You’ll be surprised to see the 5.7 crewmax sr5 around 35k invoice plus maybe some added items. Also depends on where you live

If you’re on a budget would it be possible to get a low mile 16 or 17 with a few more bells and whistles in the same price range? $37k does not sound like a fantastic price to me. Personally, I would stay away from the 4.6 with the small fuel tank. Ive read about some guys who regret not getting the 5.7 and bigger fuel tank. But I tow occasionally and like having the extra power, 4x4 and bigger fuel tank when I need it. So I guess it’s all about your needs. Good luck.
