Found a small cargo trailer like this on Craigslist...got tired of running all over to rent them...a guy bought it up north and used it to move his motorcycle here when he relocated. His wife got tired of paying storage fees; I store it in my driveway now and use it often. Also got a utility trailer that is good for projects (mulch, building supplies, etc.) when I want to load it down and work out of the trailer (like my month long project to rebuild my shed)...love the truck bed too, but there's times when trailers are real handy. Kinda' matches the Tundy too...

Well, I'll throw the poop grenade......The problem with going over the GVWR rears it's ugly head if you have to take evasive action, get into a swaying condition, or make a sudden change of direction. There are also liability issues regarding negligence if an accident does happen.
A trailer for the gear is the best option.

 

I know it does not change the GVWR but it may help with handling, why not add Timbrens or air bags?

 

I would add..
Especially if a Lawyer finds your post showing your intent (this happens ...) that you knew you were over-weight then you intensionally continued anyway.

Every landscape crew around here with a half ton I see overweight all day every day. A poor V6 F150 that’s a decade old riding on the bump stops.

I think you’ll be fine. But a trailer rental from Uhaul might not be a bad idea.

65 PSI cold is on the tire I'm running about 38psi - maybe I should bump up PSI a bit

 

Here is my stupid overweight story. I bought 200 turkeys for my employees last thanksgiving with an average weight of 15lbs. Had to make 2 trips. So about 2000lbs of frozen bird on the first run. Loaded the pallet onto the tundra with a forklift. Front wheels almost came off the ground. Creeped about 10 miles to the office. Snapped a couple pics but i dont know how to post here.

 

I literally just got back yesterday afternoon. It was 2600 miles round trip. I was probably closer to 800 pounds over. It really didn't sag but looking under the rear springs were certainly overloaded.

We had 5 guys, 5 bows, 1 crossbow, 7 rifles, 2-150qt coolers and 1-100qt cooler, 5 duffle bags and a bow target. I had a basket that goes in your hitch to carry the 100 qt cooler and target.

Made it there and back no issues, truck performed flawlessly, 80mph in places where that was the speed limit. Per the dash reading averaged 13.4 mpg on way down and 12.9mpg way back. Had meat of 11 hogs in the coolers.

 

This recently came up for me. I have definitely overloaded my Tundra with supplies for work. I would say common sense plays a huge role when hauling anything. You can really feel the weight when it gets too heavy. Realizing you have increased stopping distances is probably the biggest thing. I have been looking at getting an aftermarket leaf pack, but as mentioned there is no way to legally increase the payload capacity. I think it would make it safer when one is hauling heavy loads to help balance it out. Is there any other components one should worry about when riding on the heavy of the payload all the time?
