Burning Brake?

When coming home today I noticed the smell of burning brake or rubber. I had the truck in 4H and then 2wd on the way home. I also used manual mode to go down my friends super steep driveway in the snow. The smell was real strong when getting out of the truck. I went back out and drove in 4H than 2wd for a bit and braked hard. The couldn't get the the strong smell this time. I put the truck in neutral to see if there a stuck caliper, rolled fine. Any idea what this smell could be?

 

I would bet going down the driveway worked the brakes hard and thats where the smell came from.

 

Sounds right, I did brake hard in a few places.

 

Smell takes awhile to go away. I teach at a 18 wheeler school. Once students squak the brakes, it can be a hour later and I can still smell it.

 

That was the next questions I was going to ask. The smell does stick to wheel area for awhile.
