Compared to the other v8 trucks, if your using it as a truck in the city its right on par with them. I get the same and sometimes better city mpg then my '14silverado did. Now highway is another story and the Tundra is beat, my Silverado would get 24-25 all day long.

Ya in North America, Toyota sells more vehicles around the world, and yet it’s the most reliable vehicles.

Majority of the buyers here obviously don't have the first priority of reliability.

Was going to say...when i looked at trucks just for shits and giggles i priced ferds and chebbys and they were more money. half ton. Had no intention on buying those but was just curious on prices.

I've always liked checking out all the trucks out there. The only reason I'd ever consider buying one that's not a Tundra was if I upgraded my 34-foot camper for a fifth wheeler. For something that heavy (11,000-16,000 pounds) a Tundra isn't an option.

I know Toyota has researched a diesel engine for the Tundra but have held off offering it...not sure why (I think it would be pretty popular) I do wonder why we don't have a turbo option for the Tundra (from the factory).

Toyota’s generally are the cheaper option to buy, maintain, and have an overall lifetime lower operating cost. That is a fact. When I look at used pricing, Toyota’s are still cheaper, but not far off original MSRP, so resale is high. Buying a Tundra used, the buyer has to be careful and run numbers. Only reasons I purchased my CM Tundra used was: 100k warranty, only had 4K miles on the truck, non flex fuel.

I do have a good laugh every time fuel mileage comes up. Not in the way one might think. I’m all about getting the most mileage out of a gallon of fuel. Why wouldn’t you want to save some money? If anyone doesn’t care about a few extra dollars every fuel up, let me give those members my paypal account and you can donate 2.00 to that every fuel up. We are a nation of trucks and SUVs. Most other countries, seeing a truck is rare...like a blue moon. On my Germany/Austria trip for 10 days, we all played a game to see how many trucks there were. Four was the count, and out of those trucks, none was a full sized. Point is, as a nation we consume a lot of fuel for daily driving trucks.

I’m going to laugh my ass off at the members that jump ship on Toyota chasing the ol’ mpg. I guess we will see.

They made a prototype diesel back in '08 and had plans on making one, maybe a 2010 model, but the economy took a shit and no one was buying trucks that big then. It didn't make financial sense for Toyota make a new truck, and probably a new factory for one truck that no one could buy.

I read today that the Dodge Ram is a hybrid. That's interesting. I'd like to see how that one works. Advantages/disadvantages.

Actually, I do see a lot of newish (<30k miles) 3rd gen Tundras for sale by private party on Craigslist in my area... I don't know if that's due to people getting into something different or because people just decide they don't want a huge car payment anymore, but it is something I noticed.

Yep^^They sell them cheaper even though many of them are made south of the border with "non-American truck" cheap labor and parts. My local Toyota dealer rarely has more than 2 or 3 used Tundras on the lot. Always several Fords, Chevys, and Dodges on the lot....

If people simply did some research on fuelly, you would realize the disparity on mpg is not that much between tundra and everything else. We're talking real world use here, not the commercials giving you the absolute best case scenario.

Exactly. There is not some huge margin there in the fuel economy in the gas powered trucks.

Who cares about what the other guys are doing when our trucks can last a million miles if taken care of. Can you say that about any of the trucks you are trying to talk up? If it ain’t broke don’t fix it. If you need better gas mileage buy a car.
