I live in a state that requires front license plates. I am annoyed that the dealership screwed the license plate bracket right into the bumper. Isn't there some kind of bracket that would mount from underneath for that? What if I move to a state that does not require front plates? I will now have 2 screw holes in my bumper.

    Nothing.
California requires two plates but I took my front off (as I’ve done with all my trucks) and now have the two stupid holes to deal with. My wife’s Infiniti came with the bracket but we had the option to not install it, wish Toyota would have done the same. I wonder what a good option would be to fill them?

When I had a Tacoma there was a guy on Tacoma World who had made a no drill bracket for the front, and there was another company that had made color matched plugs for those vehicles that had the holes drilled. I will try and research them, since most of the colors carry over. I believe they were also both ob eBay as well.
    Bumper Plugs to cover holes.
    https://www.bumperplugs.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=1_11_98&product_id=98

Here is one of the no drill bracket options for the Tacoma for use as a reference. There are options for the Tundra just google.

Look in the Help section at auto parts store for some plugs. I got black ones and painted white to match the bumper on my Taco. Plain black will work on Tundra unless the center section is color matched.

And they make a bracket that you can find at autozone for your front license plate that fits the bull bar

    Still rocking the stock height.
I got my 2016 used, it came from a state that did not have the front plate, but Texas does. I have the plate in my front windshield for now, waiting to get a bull bar. I will add it to the bull bar when I get it. So glad that I don't have the holes in my bumper.

Thankfully the dealer didn't install my front bracket though the plate is required here in Cali. I've never run a front plate and have been ticketed just once. The ticket was while parked in a place called Capitola (read Copitola) where they seriously focus on generating revenue via parking tickets.

I was more shocked that its just a wood-style screw into plastic. I thought they would have had a threaded insert and a machine screw.

    New windshield wipers....just getting started
Bought the '17 from a state which required a front license plate...and the dealership had already used...I swear...wood screws into the bumper. Indiana, though, does NOT require a front plate. So, making the best of it, I just put different plates from favorite vacation spots on the front. Currently, promoting Key West...where it's above -10 today.

They require front plates here in Cali but I don’t run one. I would if I had remembered to ask for black license plates when I got the truck. They now let us use as an option the old black and yellow plates. I personally like the way looks without a plate though. Plus you know better gas mileage LOL.

I didn't know they made any other kind. Although you would think they would at least use the plastic inserts (like below) instead of screwing right into the bumper.

Not sure what difference it would make. Either way you still have a hole in your bumper. Now with the insert you would just have a cleaner hole. Sometimes I don't mind a dirty hole.

Yep, the fact that there's a round head machine screw in the back and hex head wood screws in the front is an OCD trigger! :annoyed:

    Flux capacitor!
There are several hide away license plate mounts online. This is a very clean setup. They make ones that are manual and automatic. Personally I like the automatic ones that you can tie into your ignition. So the plate automaticlly retracts when the truck is off.

Go to 1:28 on the video to see it in action.
