Last week I bought an '06 Tundra with 41k miles on it. I've driven 500 miles. checked the oil and it was 2 quarts low. no leaks that I can see. no smoke. no oil on the ground it was full when I got it. where did it go?

Not to insult your intelligence, but did you maybe misread the dip stick? Like, in the dark or something..?

I had a similar problem with my wife’s subie. Having to add frequently with no sign of leaks etc.
In her case, it turned out that she had a blown seal, and it was in fact leaking oil, but in a spraying manor, only when the engine was running, and hot, and the oil was just being sprayed all over her engine compartment, not making it down to the ground or pooling anywhere. Not even smelling really, just slathering a layer of oil all over everything.
I hope that’s not your issue, but for us, that solved the case of the missing oil.
