Hey evryone! Just got my first tundra a few months ago and I love it. Its a 2000 tundra with 4x4 and 4.7 TRD. I have a slide in camper that I haul and live in part time.... Recently I was traveling from georgia up to michigan to visit my family for thanksgiving. Truck ran great the entire trip but until about 100 miles away my rear axle caught fire and insurance had it towed to a shop. From what it looks like I had an axle seal that went bad and leaked for the length of the drive and eventually got hot enough and boom. Sheered off the whole wheel at the hub. Now my truck is stuck at an incompetent shop 100 miles away and having problems left and right trying to find parts and advice. Hopefully i'll get the truck towed up to my fathers place this week and ill rip apart the rear end and see exactly what I'll have to do to get it back on the road(I'll most likey be doing all the work myself)This whole thing has been a nightmare. If anyone has any advice on where I can find some parts or advice that would be great. I do know that the truck has a 3.91 rear end for a v8 4x4 with non abs and non locking. 20171108_032927.jpg

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome!
Update: Located and pulled an axle from a scrap yard in chicago. Got new bearings pressed and threw in some new seals and new brakes. Back on the road now and runs like a champ! Next on the list is to replace the timing belt and throw in a 2kw starter for this cold weather, wish me luck. And Merry Christmas to everyone!!20171224_164115.jpg

Welcome to the party! Sucks to have your rear end go out on you like that but I'm glad you got it sorted. I was going to recommend pulling an axle from an auto yard but it looks like you beat me to the punch!

    Rig looks good!
