Update. Got the wheels and tires mounted. Unfortunately, with the TRD Pro suspension, 315/70-17s don’t completely fit without the front aero stab and rear mud flaps removed. I still have some plastic to massage in order to prevent rub on max steering angles. Otherwise, I. Freaking. Love. How it looks!!!!!

Just put a deposit on this sucker. Tamarack Constellation from Treeline Outdoors, with a zipp off/on annex with floor. Sleeps 2-3 people, so it should be perfect for us and the dog. Tent and annex should be ready for pick up by April 2018. Just in time for exploring season. I'm pretty pumped! This is the most expensive commitment I've made to camping since we've started exploring years ago.

It's full on glamping but you'll love every bit of it!! If setup and breakdown is as quick as my Tepui then you'll be psyched! Mine is more comfortable that the bed in my room

 

They advertise a sub5 minute setup, which i am excited about. I looked at Tepui quite a bit, but couldn't find a good deal. I got this one 20% off and only 10% down until delivery, which put it on par with ARB pricing and cheaper than the tepuis. My biggest concern was cold/severe weather performance. These guys are out in the middle of no where Alberta Canada. Based on some of the pics they showed me of where they have camped with this model, I was sold.

I guess since I am glamping now, gonna queue up a China set for my afternoon tea on Amazon. I'll make sure to drink it pinky up.

Sounds like a plan. I have a mini generator for an electric blanket and small space heater for cold weather slumber. I’m gonna try out the combo at 12,000 ft elevation on new years

 

Good to hear. Let me know how it works. I’m told that there is a company that makes a furnace but a version for a tent with a thermostat, which will run off of a 12v battery and a propane tank. Considering we wil be off grid for long periods of time, I’m thinking this may be a good option. As much as I am trying to avoid a generator, I may be stuck with one though. I’ll post up that setup when I find it.

I found the heater I mentioned earlier. It runs off propane and 12v. Seems as though folks are running these on RTTs, which would be perfect for me since we planned on carrying a 3lb propane heater anyway. Probably worth noting that it’s best run with a carbon monoxide sensor inside the tent to make sure a freak accident doesn’t happen and people get hurt.

Came back home to Kansas for Christmas to see my family and my wife’s family. This meant access to managed deer property. Spent the last 4 days in the woods, but unfortunately I got a big goose egg. It’s alright though, nothing beats some time in the woods hunting.

Not much of an update since it's been so freaking cold. I have a ton of parts waiting to go on the truck, but I'm kind of a sally when it comes to working on cold concrete.

I did do some more duck hunting and snapped this pic. Nothing like planted corn on public property to help bring in the birds.

Alaska is beautiful. I rode my motorcycle from CA to Prudhoe Bay and it was amazing. The food on the ferry sucks, but it's still fun. You'll need to make special arrangements to touch the Arctic Ocean, just FYI. Also the mosquitoes are horrendous in the summer.

 

Just wondering, but why not drive through Canada? There has got to be some beautiful scenery on the way up to catch the Dalton Highway

 

Ha! Some of the ones I posted above. I got the ARB twin compressor bracket from @SoCalDave and installed it. Also ordered up the manifold kit and pump kit from arb. Just need to finish wiring it up, but it’s too friggin cold.

I ordered some coachbuilder bumper extension shims since my tires were rubbing the front liners.

Ordered a rugged radio 25 watt system that I need to install. Still need to figure out how though and where I’m gonna run the antenna.

Ordered factory remote start for the truck, because again, I’m a sally when it comes to the cold.

That sounds awesome! I’m also a fellow rider. Street bikes though. Do you have any details on what’s required? I haven’t see anything online that requires it. I have soo many questions for you...

Yeah, the Alcan Highway goes through Canada but I simply don’t have the time. I would absolutely love to though, but last time I looked it was like 76hrs one way. That would kill a majority of the vacation I have available for our trip. If Alaska goes well, then I’ll do the Alcan.

 

We didn't partake in the Arctic Ocean shuttle trip, but check this out. http://www.deadhorsecamp.com/arctic-ocean-shuttle/ We basically slogged up to Prudhoe from Fairbanks in one 14 hr day and headed back to FB the next morning.

Not much of an update since it’s still cold here, but I’m hopeful that it will warm up this weekend so that I can finish installing the ARB compressor.

In the meantime, I had the dealer install the Toyota remote start and since the tires were getting into the front bumper, I installed some shims to space out the bumper about 1/2” and that cured all of my rubbing in forward and reverse.

Ordered these from Coachbuilder. It was much cheaper than me drawing them, having them coated and shipped back to me for install.

Nice truck! I visited all those places in Alaska on my motorcycle a few years back...going back in a Tundra would be a fantastic experience!! .... (I'm sure it will also be a pricey trip...save dem pennies)

 

Bringing this thing back from the dead. It's FINALLY warm (well...been warm for a bit but i'm kind of a bitch)and I have been slowly working on the truck, but big changes are coming.... so time for updates. woot woot!


Bought things from the group buy on here, because everyone needs ARB straps.



I bought these brackets from Rago whenever they launched them and I got them for a deal. I decided to mount my Tred Pros on these and mount them on the front of the bed. They didn't fit on the bed sides, unfortunately, but I like how they came out. Also threw on a bolt lock cable for those pying eyes and wandering hands.




I also ordered these ABS protectors during the SDHQ black friday sale and never got to install them. Yesterday was the day. I can't believe I waited this long to be honest, they were so easy.
