I just purchased a 2018 Crewmax TRD off road. Purchased 3/1 leveling kit and larger rims and tires, flares as well as TRD pro grill.

Dropped the truck off 2 days ago and the dealer called and said they had t refund my $ because toyota sent out a memo to not lift the truck or change the wheel height.

I am getting conflicting reports..see some dealers lifting 2018's.

    very aggravated!

It seems like the dealership is not making that story up as they would rather sell you the lifted truck. I bet Toyota did recently send out the memo for fear of litigation from accidents on lifted trucks with Safety Sense.

Toyota dealership did my 3/1 and bigger wheels and tires with no issues....going back in a couple weeks to have the front fender liners molded for a slight running issue....I’ll ask them if there is such a memo as they have lifted several 18s already

Also keep in mind, Toyota or any car company has to make these statements to cover them in a legal situation when a 2018 hits something and the driver/ lawyer say the Toyota was at fault. That being said, you can still take the truck to any 4 wheel drive place and they will install everything for you. But unless we hear something different or see that letter in writing in a picture or something, assume what @Tundra9831 said is true. They want every dime then can get.

If you customize a Harley, they say certain things. If you change out Glock parts, Glock says certain things. These statements are normal in all industries.
