Ok bought a 2016 sr5 a year ago. Did some cosmetic upgrades but nothing seriouse. Well due to how much I tow and the fact that you cant get a locker from the factory i traded it in today. Got a titan xd diesel. Dont know if i made a mistake have heard good and bad. I just wanted to thank everyone who offered advice and help with questions. I will miss this forum but gonna miss the tundra too. Wish toyota made a diesel who knows maybe in a few years they will. At least i hope so

Why didn’t you just go 3/4 ton?

For the price, the Titan XD makes no sense to me.

Good luck, wish you well. The real positive thing is you realized something bigger was needed and stepped upwards...sort of.

Agreed. Be nice to get a unbiased review here from a former Tundra owner....No doubt there will eventually be a "Who traded in their Tundra for a deisel Titan and wished they hadn't." There's a good reason not too.....Ford.. Chevy/GMC deisels. Left out RAM on purpose.....

Didn' go for the 3/4 due to the fact that I have a 2006 dodge Cummins. I really didn' want to get rid of tundra but for my use diesel just made more sense. Hope I don' regret it but I did need that in between truck The 1/2 ton gas can tow no problem but it always seemed to be a bit of a struggle and the 3/4 is my work truck and it gets to be a hassle loading and unloading for those long trips. I' hoping the new Cummins is as reliable as the 5.9 in my dodge. I will be posting some parts left over that hopefully will sell. I have the tss floor mats, front and rear bumpers, and mirrors will post them with pictures soon and hopefully will sell. Havent had it long enough to give honest opinion but toyota could learn something from nissan as far as seats go. Anyway fellas I will keep you informed and let you know if it was a mistake or not. The 3/4 is just to big and heavy to take out on beach where I fish and a lot of pin strippingon it from deer lease that' why I decided to give the nissan a try and hopefully it works out.

Besides with the rebates cost was about the same as my tundra. The good news is tundras hold their value so well it ended up being a big plus in negotiations

Deisel Titan's are somewhat pricey to be kind. We're you able to get a decent trade-in value and maybe get a few bucks drop down from the dealer ? The Titan's do have some nifty electronics.

They paid off my tundra so ended up with no negative equity, they had rebates totaling 10,000. After some back and forth ended up with the pro 4X. Got the truck diesel with remote start, blind spot monitoring, 4wheel drive with factory locker, navigation, and a few other other luxuries for about 47500. No money down payment stayed the same just went from 4 yrs back to 5. I think it was a fair deal. The truck had 11500 miles on it after 15 months

I agree, Toyota has a thing or two they need to learn about seat fabric quality and comfort quality.

I forgot you have an 06 CTD, and can understand not wanting to load/unload all the time.

Funny, your new Titan has better capacities than your 06 Dodge...heavier too. So the beach might get sporty for you if you don’t air down a little.

I too can relate to not wanting to unload and load all the time, that’s why I have 2 trucks as well. I use my 16 GMC HD 3500 SRW for all my towing, it’s not due to lack of power from the Tundra. More of lack of rear leafs and when towing diesel uses less fuel. But my Tundra gets used for everything else.
Good luck with your Titan hopefully you don’t have the same problems that everyone is complaining/posting about. Isn’t it assembled by Dodge at there plant in Mexico?

Congratulations on your new truck. You know it is funny that rumor had it that the Cummins 5.0 V8 was going into the Tundra as well.

I have never driven a Titan but the reviews on the Titan Diesel are really not that rave, especially the fuel mileage. You already own a Cummins CTD why didn't you get another new Ram CDT? A lot more truck and much better fuel mileage ( I had three 5.9s and one 6.7 so I know).

When I heard first about the "small" Cummins in a 1/2 ton truck I was all excited because I like diesel trucks (wife hates them tough.....they stink). If I would buy a diesel it would be another Ram with the Cummins IBT series.
