Any Apple tech heads out there...Time to upgrade iPhones and IPads....

We are going to upgrade our iPads and iPhones tomorrow. We currently both have old antique tech ipad 2s 16gb and 5s iPhones Haha..Needless to say they have pretty much outlived their time and time to upgrade.

We are thinking of just bumping my tablet up to an iPad 128gb (great reviews) or a maybe a pro and two new iPhone 7's. We really don't stream vids or movies or game, so trying to keep it real.

Our local Apple Store is offering a 10% discount on the iPad and both phones because of my wife's employer. They are also offering to buy back my old iPad (2) and both our 5s iPhones. Naturally this buyback price will be determined when we visit the store. I don't expect much for the (3) devices, but $50-75 bucks per device will work, it's better than nothing.
My wife is ordering a new iPad Pro through award points earned through her work, so no cost there. Yeah! Maybe I should consider bumping to the pro? Just a lot of features I may not use.

Has anyone here recently upgraded from the Apple line up?

Please posts only on Apple products ONLY. Anyone have the iPhone 7 ?

Upgrade my Apple gadgets all the time. So far this year:

iPad Air 2 > iPad Pro
Apple TV 4th gen > Apple TV 4K
Iphone 7 plus > iPhone X

Next is my MacBook Pro (2010)

Definitely would go for the iPad Pro. Always do a trade in too, and company discount also. Also, worth getting the bigger storage size if possible

 

It sounds like you keep your devices for a long time. get the best you can afford and keep it till it dies.

 

go big on the storage....better to have it and not need it than the other way around! I currently have an Iphone 7 Plus.....had it almost a year with no issues

 

Walmart is offering a 300 gift card for iphone 7 sales. Target is offering a 250 gift card for iphone 8 sales. I think these promotions start next week, but you need to check to make sure.

 

Not sure what size you’re considering but the 7 Plus has dual cameras. That allows you to take those pics of your truck with the background blurry. Regular iPhone 7 can’t do that. And I believe it also has a longer lasting battery.

 

But the 8plus or the iPhone X will do this as well

I’m not paying a thousand dollars for a phone. I’ll buy my wife one but not me. I’m using my 6S Plus til it dies or I die. Whichever comes first.

 

Never pay full price for Apple stuff is a given

 

I just bought a new iPad pro like two months ago and also had to buy a new iPhone 8 plus two weeks ago because I broke my 6s. The 8 plus feels just like another phone. It's faster for sure though.
I REALLY love my new iPad. I use it daily with the stylus. As Ive gone up in the ranks, most of my job has become administration and it is SOOOO nice to have thousands of documents and notes at my fingertips with the ability to take notes on them in PDF form. It really does replace about 80-90 percent of my laptop usage.

 

We opted to buy our new devices outright, not into the monthly payment thing and scooped up (2) new iPad Pro’s 256gb and two iPhone 7’s 128gb (unlocked).

Backed up old devices to iCloud and down loaded to the new devices from the cloud..all good!

Got an iPhone 7 Plus last year (we upgrade on the “non-s” Years). Love it. It’s a fantastic machine.

I have a 2010 15” MacBook Pro that I replaced the spinner hard drive (320gb) with a Solid state drive (512 gb) for about $250 1.5-2 yrs ago and it’s like a new machine. The only thing I find lacking with it is being able to “air drop” files to my phone or vice versa. Apple just won’t support it (even though the hardware can. Stupid).

Thanks..Indeed unlocked is the only way to go. We have no contract with our carrier..old very affordable plan, just a little faster tech now with the new toys.
