Truck was at the dealer for an oil change, and they popped my tire off to fix a nail. This isn't normal, is it? They shaved off a small section of my wheel, leaving it looking like shit. You can really see what I mean when you look at the undamaged area, which is still coated in black.

    Would you all go back?

Ugh.... wtf. I went in for a free oil change. Spent 7 hours in there while they tried to balance the tire/wheel to get rid of a shaken from patching a nail, and now a shit looking wheel.

Was it Checkered Flag on vbeach Blvd. This is the curb rash on the rim you're talking about correct? Always take pics of entire vehicle each panel hood bumpers and rums/tires before handing the keys over. You shouldn't have to but you do. Quick story with checkered flag BMW. Took gf car in for service. Total pics of everything. Two days later curb rash from hell. Service writers response was "we don't have curbs" walked him outside and pointed out the curbs. WTF. Well we didn't do it he said. Showed pics. I'll call a guy to fix it. SMH. Get a new rim, the fix it stuff will look like crap. Been saving that story for 2 years....winning.

Yes... It is. And I can't wait for them to try and pull that with me. I've never hit a curb in my life, much less my brand new truck. The lady over the phone offered to get in touch with wheel repair and I almost lost it.

Push for new. The repair looks terrible. You can also push for a cash out and get new rims all around. Those rims are probably 6 or 7 hundred a piece from Toyota. 4 new aftermarket 800 to 1000. Just a thought. That's where I got my 2014 in Feb and they couldn't clean the leather as promised or get the swirl marks out of the paint as required by CPO standards. I did the leather myself, 4 hours, and da polisher the entire truck for about 40 hrs. Looks mint now tho. I have free oil change but the only time they will ever see my truck is for any warranty work I may need. Doing all my service with production offroad. Good luck dealing with them though.

Had them do a lift inspection for me last month, truck had a 4.5 BDS when I bought it. They loosened and retightened everything to spec, lubed me up, and front end alignment for $200 bucks. Also painted my BW fender flares for $400. Great to deal with and knowledgeable on lifted trucks. Doing my 30k service with them in Jan. Also they lifted a Taco for a guy I work with 2 years ago, he had a good experience and they just did a 6 in BDS on a 17 f250 with 37s for another guy I work with. Good all around so far. Definitely not a dealership vibe. Stop by and see them, the guy Ron there is really cool. Doing any truck mods or maintenance there is always a chance for things to happen but that curb rash is pretty easy to avoid.

Also look at getting the BDS 4.5 lift and 35s on 18 or 20 rims. It will take your truck from bad ass to BAD ASS with one swipe of the credit or debit card. I'm in Florida now for work but will be back mid Dec for a month or so. If you want to check out mine we can meet up and I'll let you drive it. See what you think.

That sucks man. Take it back. They have insurance for crap like this. Be nice and courteous and you should be good to go.

Discount Tire has taken care of me on some accidents. It does happen when busting hundreds of tire per day.

I've also had Discount Tire scratch a brand new wheel, they replaced it 2 days later with no argument or pushback whatsoever. They agreed to replace it in minutes, but had to order the wheel.

I had a truck dump gravel all over a brand new car once, my insurance covered it but the body shop that did the repair damaged the black wheels on the driver side so bad and fought me all the way to get it fixed. They replaced one and repaired the other. You could never tell on the repaired wheel and the damage seemed substantial - I was positive that the repair wouldn't work but it was fine.

The dealership I go to does a walk around to check for damage and has you sign off before they take your vehicle in. This is a good policy to protect both the dealership and the customer and in my opinion should happen at EVERY shop or dealer.

Hope you get your wheel replaced or fixed to your satisfaction. I don't think you'll get a cash out from it.

Oh, and for an FYI to all, remove your wheel locks in the parking lot before you go inside. In the last two years I learned this lesson three times. Once a tech broke off the factory Toyota splines inside the wheel lock on my Tundra. At least he admitted to using an air ratcheting it and broke it off.
Another time the splines were broke off and a tech just put it back in the vehicle. So we would have been screwed if we had a flat. Last one the wheel lock was not put back inside the Lexus and that would have been bad if we had a flat as well.

On my GMC the wheel locks are rather bad ass, and will be adding these to my TJ since it requires more torque than what a Corolla puts out, but I’m not risking it.

For the record, Checkered Flag Toyota in Virginia Beach did me right, and swapped the wheel for me. I didn't feel dirty having to fight for it either, they just had me in and I left will the new wheel an hour later.

Having been there a few times now since purchase, they seem like they want to do the right thing, even with picky customers like myself.

7 hours spent in a dealership is a lot of time for what started as oil change, but at least it all turned out okay.

Glad they took care of it for you. Go heavy on the pics next time you drop it off. Nothing like digital backup if something happens in future visits.
