Hello. First time post. I have been looking at getting a Tundra for a few years and the time is getting real close. I have a quote on an '18 Crewmax Limited TRD 4X4 with the premium package.

The MSRP of this vehicle is $49,365.

Our Sonic Price on your Tundra is $44,438 plus ttl. (includes $1250 rebate).

    What do you guys think?

    Thanks

Stock, planning on keeping that way! (only time will tell)
Where are you getting this quote and what's included? I just bought a 4x2 under $44k with sunroof, nav and leather. Upcharge seems a bit high. I'm sure can negotiate it down to around $47k or so.

MSRP for my 2018 Limited was just a little over 50K. I got about 2300 off plus 500 Military rebate and the 1.9% financing.

I am getting this quote from a local Toyota dealer in the Denver area. Includes sunroof, the premium package which is rear bumper color match, some safety stuff added and JBL. It seems like a decent deal at almost 5gs off.

Let me know if I need my buddy to get involved. He’s a used car manager there, and a close personal friend.

Hello sir. I am in negotiations with two dealers also for a 2018 Limited Crewmax 4x4 in South Carolina. I have them both around 42500 for the limited. I originally was quoted 45500.

Just for info they are also going to match the cement grey bumper caps for $275 and the grille surround (get rid of the chrome) for $480. Those prices have been negotiated into the $42500 total. So if anyone thinks that's high let me know. (Cement color).

I am still waiting them out for late December to see if I can shave off another grand or so on December 30th or so for that last unit sale of 2017. Also keep in mind if they won't come down on pricing when you go to the finance office tell them you want zero percent financing for 60 months. If they say they don't have that at this time and we only have 1.9 percent or whatever kindly leave and walk off the lot. Wait a day or so and they will call back. If they don't, take their final number to the other dealer and say I'll buy this unit today for this price and zero percent finance. If you can't give me zero percent financing then take another $2000 off the final price. Be prepared to say how Ford and Chevy have zero percent and all these other incentives and you will go see them instead. One of the two Toyota dealers will make the deal. You just have to play the time versus money game.

Sorry for the long winded response.

Be prepared for the Toyota dealer to tell you to go and buy a Ford. There is a limit to everything and you can only push the dealer so far. In the end they do have to make a profit. Live and let live.

The dealer will not tell me anything. I will listen to what they have to say but they definitely will not TELL me anything. Additionally, they do not have to "make a profit" on every single unit sale. They can make profit in financing, after market parts and the service department on a customer over a ten year period and come out thousands ahead. But in order to do so they need to move the unit itself. If the general manager is too stupid to realize this concept then that dealership is probably in the negative every year. Find the one in your state that isn't and ask the GSM or GM how they make their numbers every year and the answer won't be them telling buyers to "go buy a ford". The answer will be how you let the customer win the bargaining battle up front so they want to come back for service and parts and another unit for the family or a friend who got a great deal down the road. Then over a five ten and fifteen year period you make that trivial few thousand back five times over.

You should be a car dealer and be on the receiving end of customers like yourself. Have you ever sold a car to an individual who wanted to lowball you? If so, how did you like that? I know I couldn't work as a sales person, I probably would blow a gasket and tell people what I really think.

And no, I have no connections or even friends at any car dealership, I do believe in being fair.

When a customer pays the window sticker price with no haggling do you think that salesperson tells them they are getting ripped off? No. They do not. So if one side isn't going to play fair then neither will I. Then both parties at least recognize they are in a battle. With a dealer that battle is with my money. I could care less if that random salesperson makes their monthly quota but it won't be by ripping me off.

In theory you're kind of right. And I'm telling you this as a former Chevrolet / Cadillac salesperson. Most dealers will tell you they're selling you at a loss at a certain price, well, here's some news for you, no dealership will sell you at a loss. Yes finance can, and will get you for several products if you chose to buy them. Here's another thing I will let you in on (partially), unless you're bringing your own cash, they are making money on you regardless on which bank, or how great you think you % is. I'll leave it at that. Dealers are there to make a profit, that's what for profit businesses do, and they make it several way outside of the actual price of the car. If you have the time to play the game you can only win. I saw it somewhere on here someone posted about being willing to drive, and open a new email account to correspond with different dealerships etc. He was spot on. Problem is most people aren't willing to do that because they get too emotional when they see the EXACT car they want at dealer X, then they're ready to buy. Another thing, if you think you're getting a good deal because the dealer took $2 or $3K off MSRP you are wrong. MSRP is never the place to start the negotiations, but most dealers will give you this BS that they can't / won't show you invoice. Anyways, my homework begins as I look for the least expensive CM Platinum. Oh yea, I've driven 12 hrs to get $2K on a trade-in before and purchased an Infiniti G35 sedan for the same price they had locally.......LOL. I don't mind driving. Turned around and drove right back. 27 straight hrs was brutal lol

Some good pricing info here too for you.
Additionally I am seeing a huge monetary swing for these trucks east of the Mississippi River. Is this due to the south being traditionally Ford and Chevy areas? I do not know the reasoning for this. But the pricing for the same tundra in CA and SC can be $5-8500 in difference from what I see weekly on autotrader, eBay and people's posts on this forum.

USAA car buying service, a no brainer. No dealing haggling with sales people, USAA calls and tells the dealership what they will pay for the truck or car. I go pick up new my car or truck after complete inspection and call USAA tell them to complete the deal. Drive off stress free. This is how I purchased my Platinum. You have to be a member of USAA to use their service. Dealerships know it’s a guaranteed sale, so they tend to play well with USAA. Or USAA just recommends another dealership that will.

Not exactly my friend. USAA car buying service, which I've used. Sometimes doesn't take into account rebates that are out there. Their fair price may be higher that what the dealership is actually selling it for. It's a good start though, and hopefully the dealership is part of their car buying service. Good input though.

It has always worked to my buying advantage, in my last several Toyota purchases. I have never seen rebates on Platinum or Limited model Tundras, and you can’t use USAA if the dealer is not participating. USAA has always negotiated a lower price for me. Why have the service if they can’t?

I love not even talking to sales people. ;)

Seems kinda pricey. Although I got a 2017 in December of 2016, my (before taxes) was 386xx.

I don't have the JBL speakers but I have the sunroof and painted rear bumper (blis, rear and front sonar)

That seems pretty high to me.

So I guess these MSRP of $51K i'm seeing around here for 18 Limited CM 4X4 with sunroof, collision alert, lane departure and LED headlight is waaaayy to high. I've already seen better in Ohio but that's with dealer rebates as well as the Toyota $750 or whatever it was. Oh and craziest thing today was a Platinum without LED headlights but has everything else. I though that would be standard on a platinum. I'm not understanding the model features. Back to studying I go.

If you seen a Platinum without LED headlights it wasn't a 2018.

Hmm ok, I never even checked. I assumed it was an 18 because it was right next to a Limited 18 which has the LED headlight lol. Thanks.
