I feel like I have a thousand questions, even after reading everything here for the last month.

So my tundra is brand new with the TRD dual exhaust. When increasing speed, it sort of sounds like a helicopter or Harley bike. Not as loud, obviously, but it has that....I don't know, helicopter-ish sound.

I'm assuming it's normal. But I just wanted to double check. I once had an old car with a bad muffler and it had a similar sound.

    Thanks

    See fine print
It’s because the trd exhaust doesn’t have an h/x pipe. Get an exhaust from @dirtydeeds and it will go away.

I test drove a Tundra with the TRD dual exhaust and didn't like the sound or inside resonance or drone that is inherent with louder exhaust systems. Some people like it but I prefer my daily driver to be really quiet.

If I feel like listening to an exhaust system I take my Chevelle out which has Flowmasters.

I don't mind it. It sounds like a racecar sometimes. My kids like it because of it. I definitely can see it as something annoying to other folks. It's not obnoxiously loud to the outside, I don't think. But I feel ya

My experience with the TRD exhaust was the same. Full throttle sounded fantastic but the constant deep frequency resonance at lower cruising speeds got tiring.

I got my TRD dual exhaust installed after about 2500 miles on my new truck. I was disappointed at the "chopper" sound I think you are describing, at first and was really annoyed. I am not sure what happens, but it took some time to "break in," and now it sounds awesome, and there is no "chopping." My advice is give it some time - you will love it soon.

more than I can list here
If the sound persists, and begins to annoy you. Give me a call. I have a solution that will not only get rid of the helicopter sound, but it will also increase your low end torque by a noticeable amount.

Chopper noise! That's more accurately described! Thanks. I'll give it time. I don't mind it right now, but there's a certain speed where I can see getting tired of it.

Definitely will keep this in mind. If you don't mind PM'ing me the details, I'd like to at least understand what I'd be looking at in the future. Thanks!

It’ll take time to go away when things heat up. Just keep driving

Does the material physically change (like warping/expanding over time?

If I recall, mine did it at maybe 30 or 40 MPH, when the RPM's were pretty low. And then it did on the highway - at maybe 65 - at lower RPM's. It's totally gone now. Didn't take very long to go away, maybe a couple hundred miles.

After about 1500 miles that sound goes away and smoothes out. Thats been my experience on my last two trucks.
