    ^^^^^^ This.

On my truck... both bumpers are far from perfect, body has a couple small whoops in it, steering wheel has tape where the covering has pulled apart, driver seat bottom has seen better days... plenty of other imperfections. It's a 20+ year old truck... but it still drives reliably, smooth and quiet.

I knew it was an old man’s truck. Evidence:
    1. Bed cleats
    2. Old man tan or “goldbeige” as my daughter calls it
    3. Big ass running boards
    4. Stock AF
    5. Bed cleats
    6. Bichelins on stockies
    7. Bed cleats

Mechanically it is, and the interior is cherry too. They beat the hell out of that bed moving apples though and the paint has seen a lot of California sun.

Going to take care of the essentials first (timing belt, waterpump, serpentine, and any associated that are needed), but wheels and tires are next. Kinda digging the FJ bullet hole wheels and there are a couple sets for sale I could snag on my Austin baby shower trip at the end of this month. Need to move on some tires though, currently wearing some strong tread but cracked from age 265/65/17s I wouldn't trust for the round trip. Thinking maybe 265/75/17s ATs would be reasonable. Also kinda just want to grab a cheap pair of takeoffs to give myself some breathing room before making any decisions. Still not sure if I'm going to do a minimal lift (1-1.5"), leveling kit, or what so buying a quality set of tires seems premature.

Then there's the paint, which does need to be addressed on roof and hood. May do touch up now, may wait a couple years, may paint it an entirely different color. Will deal with the cleats then!

Congrats! Truck looks great, I just got mine in June. If I could do it over I’d fly to Cali to buy (I’m from the rust belt).

Keep us posted as your truck progresses!

Looks great! Whoever did the wrap does quick work... the other cars in the parking lot hadn't even moved since you last parked there. :D

Have to stake your claim. All the spots in front of my house are exclusive until the city tells me otherwise.

I'm a bit uncertain on exactly how backspacing and offset will come together to affect or create tire rub. I'm sure this has been covered ad nauseum in the forum, I've read as much as my brain can absorb today but I'm still needing a little guidance.

To start, after reading the forum extensively, have settled on Bilstein 6112s upfront and 5100 in the rear for leveling. May look to add bags in the rear in the future for when I take the camper out.

Looking to replace my badly bubbling 17" alloy wheels with the attached FJ Wheel. The backspacing is less at 5.5" and I'm not sure how the .6" of offset will factor. I'm planning to run either 265/70/17s or 275/70/17s on this road queen. Do I need spacers to avoid rubbing?

    You
Your stock wheels are 7.5 x 15mm offset
Your FJ wheels you picked out are 7.5 x 15mm offset

This means they should be identical, the wheels should sit in the exact same spot.

Spacers will actual INCREASE your risk of rubbing. It helps to avoid frame rub and UCA contact, but it'll potentially rub on the inner fenders/front bumper. I rub on the fenders with 1.5" spacers on patricks with 255s.
