I just got a 2012 Tundra Crew Max, and the Parking assist sensors are quite weak on it. Looked it up it uses ultrasonic proximity sensors. Their effective detection range typically spans roughly 0.3 meters (1 ft) up to about 2–3 meters (6–10 ft). The front sensors only activate at very low speeds (below ~5–6 mph). I would like to see if there is a better solution for this, as the detection is outside of my comfort range. Is there an available upgrade without getting into heavy wiring and extra equipment, or do I live with it?

I tried an ultrasonic aftermarket kit that gets applied on the inside of the bumper several years back, and it was total crap. I personally haven't come across a simple alternative to upgrading/adding proximity sensors without a full out retrofit :(
