I got the fuel vapor assembly down. going to try and get fuel tank removed nest day or two. I'm going to scrape frame of rust and/or that crappy rubber like undercoating off- best I can. Going to order gal of semi-black por15 for frame. My question is has anyone found anything that will out last por15? i am going to brush it all on. Also contemplating just buy a new fuel vapor set-up but found access to a used one maybe.. yes or no buying used? My trk only has 132 thousand miles so might buy other vapor setup just trans mine over to the others holding bracket,

Don’t forget the degreaser and metal prep or do you have a suitable substitute? I went through this process back in 2012. I highly recommend foam brushes for a more professional and original look and if you only use a partial can, use Saran Wrap or something similar to give you a tight air seal when you temporarily put the lid back on the can. Two coats for the win.

Also be prepared to discard whatever clothes you wear and don’t get any in your hair. It won’t come out.

I used Rust Bullet base coat and their top coat, the base coat is aluminized paint, other popular/similar brand is Master Coat. Master Coat scored very well/better than the Por 15, Rust Bullet was available when I was doing it whereas Master Coat was back ordered, but in comparing the Rust Bullet and Master Coat material data sheets they have similar formulations, key ingredient being aluminum. Prep is key any product/route you go. Have to degrease, convert/stabilize existing rust, and remove what you can. I would use Master Coat or Rust Bullet, both have a base and top coat to use, base coat has the aluminum, that's what I would use for brushed on frame painting, if spraying I'd probably do a 2K epoxy system. I then used a mix of Cosmoline for high spray areas and Woolwax for nooks and crannies.

I have a thread here with details about everything:

I may not have said this but it’s probably obvious that if you don’t wire brush or sand off the rust for a smooth surface, the foam brushes won’t help the appearance much due to the irregular surface of the rust but it would help with the rest of the smooth frame sections that aren’t rusty.
