    Hi all,

I just came home with a new-to-me 2014 Platinum I got from a roadside dealer with 160k on it. The truck came with a lightbar only somewhat tastefully added in the lower portion of the front grille, and I was at a loss of how to turn it on until a switch literally dropped out onto my foot while driving home. Eureka! It even works. I'd planned to remove the lightbar, I'm not a big fan of such things. While I was down there, I peered up into the dashboard innards a little and I noticed a connector that wasn't connected to anything, accompanied by a cut brown wire. Oh boy. I pulled the kick panel, and sure enough, there's a bunch of wires running to various connectors that have been hillbilly spliced, wrapped in electrical tape, and then cut. So somebody's been in here doing some shenanigans. Biggest question - what's that connector supposed to plug into?

Mostly I'm concerned that somebody has done some major nonsense with the electricals on the truck. There are a couple of things either not working or malfunctioning - TPMS light is on despite correct pressures and reset procedure followed, driver's heated seat is not working (passenger is fine), a couple other odds and ends I'm probably not remembering.

Some first post background: I'm an engineer and shadetree mechanic with extensive experience in automotive systems including electrical work. Have rebuilt many-an-engine, work primarily on vintage Volkswagens, though have had my fair share of modern car moments as well.

Probably some kind of remote starter or security system a previous owner installed and then removed when they sold it.

    Alot of them
These trucks have quite a few unused connectors. They are prewired for different things depending on trim level.

It could be a lot of things. As mentioned before, Toyota makes harnesses for different trims and options, so it's common to see unplugged connectors. The other thing is people adding after-market things, and that's a different ball game.

The tire pressure could be the TPMS sensors in the wheel; it's a 2014, so it could need replacing.
For the heated seat, I would trace it. Starting with the fuse, if that does not work, check the connectors under the seat, and if that is not it. Look at the wiring schematics and see if one of the wires is cut.
