Nice work! If he wants the gauges angled towards hime the angle rings work well. I've used them on my afr gauge in the dash and on the fuel pressure gauge at the brake controller. Makes for a little better view angle while driving.

Installed some eye candy ‘while I was in there’. Did I waste my money? Wouldn’t be the first time

I’m SOOOO close to getting the blower back on there! Belt drive and coolant crossover next… So far I’ve only got one bolt that I can’t figure out where it goes

I feel like i've fell back in love with the truck again. The supercharger really makes it like a whole new truck.

Its really torquey, almost too much for just daily driving around town. Kinda feels like when you would have tow haul mode on and taking off at a stoplight and you poke the throttle a little too hard and it lurches. Can that be tuned out?
I gave it a little more beans today than i did yesterday....kinda working up to WOT. Going from a roll and punching it, it downshifts just fine and hauls-ass. I did try putting it in manual mode in 3rd and gave it the beans and when i tried to shift it into 4th it kinda didn't really want to shift until i left off. Just having it in drive it seems to shift fine.

I went ahead and ordered a barb kit in different sizes. I hate the idea needing to check if those fittings are leaking each time i drive it.....i'll just bypass it.

I can't find the reference but I've read a few times to not be accelerating when manually shifting. You should let off the throttle.

    Congrats!

On my 2020 I've aggressively muted the pedal response with an Hike It XS throttle controller (ECO/Off-road mode) with mixed results. I know some of the earlier Tundras have a very aggressive pedal profile so this may not entirely solve this. Can't say I recommend any of the throttle controllers capable of muting the pedal since they can potentially trigger limp mode.

I felt the same way about how torquey that thing is. Like @Saltyhero13 I had the throttle response tamed down to my liking via custom tuning. Drives like a smooth almost stock truck when puttering, but gets on it when you feed it a bit more pedal. I thought I was the only one that didn’t like feeling like the truck was gonna rip my face off with 1/8 pedal…

Toyota sure has messed with the pedal tuning. Stock my '07 was decent, then they had the pedal recall and it would chirp the tires when going over speed bumps. Got 1 more factory retune and it settled out.

I've kept that same response in HPT thru the present. I can pop it in tow/haul if I want it more spicy

I definitely wont do that again.

I remember reading about torque management they implimented on 2.5gens or something like that. Supper touchy throttle on the early tundras.

That definitely seems like the driving experience i'm looking for. tame until you dont want it to be.

Custom tuning can have the throttle sensitivity adjusted. I have mine changed to be able to manage the power steady over big hits offroading. Give it the beans already

@sbxx312 will have to post photos of his truck since apparently I didn't take any photos today except this one

    PXL_20250913_161911646.jpg

Spent a full 3 days on the truck, Magnuson, innovate wideband and Banks gauge install, plus tuning it. Truck tuned beautifully, did one revision on it and called it good. She saw full boost within a mile of the shop!

I did screw up the tune initially. Started the truck and it was all gurgly and acting like it wasn't getting fuel. Pulled the lines off the tank and it had plenty of flow so the pump seemed fine, so I checked the tune and the injector constant was at 0.4 when I thought I entered 0.1! I think it didn't register the decimal or something so thought I entered 1 or 10 and I'm guessing 0.4 is the highest it could actually flash to, and the truck was totally confused and wouldnt run right. Quick fix there, and then she was running beautifully! Up at 9000ft at my dads shop it was making a bit under 5psi with the 70mm pulley. Down the hill at 5500ft or so was 7psi max. I left @sbxx312 with a 65mm pulley, I tried to get him to run it but he wanted to chill before cranking the boost more. The 2650 with the 70mm sounds amazing, I don't remember them sounding this loud but his really screams and has a nice deep tone to it compared to the Hellcat-esque scream of a 1900.

@sbxx312 will have to take some interior photos, the dash mounting of the wideband in the 14-21 looks SO good and worked out great with just a 2.0" hole saw and a bit of trimming the back panel behind the dash piece to run wiring. It worked beautifully and looks really nice. I tied into 12V outlet for power and then the camera switch backlight for the dimmer and it made wiring really easy.

Ill give it the beans! I wanna see how it does from a standstill....I've only been rolling into the throttle so far.

One thing I'm thinking about is about what @Mdl said about in manual mode. When I tow our travel trailer (7k lbs) I usually set it in S5 and leave it. Wonder if that's not a good idea now. Can that be tuned out?

Nope, towing in S5 will be just fine if you want. I don't tow a lot of weight, but with a TC lock reduction, it shifts and responds beautifully. I use to tow in S6, but don't even bother anymore.

Someone can wrap or paint this trim piece. Holes cut for two gauges. If you can pick it up, you can have it.

You may have misunderstood its different by having it in s5 vs manually shifting. Both are fine. I only read while under heavy throttle to reduce it before manually shifting.
Being in S4 or S5 it still automatically shifts vs manually.

Generally I drive around in S5 and only go to S6 when 65mph or above consistently. When moving more than 35mph and wanting to give it some beans I go to S4 since this preshifts down to a usable gear, usually it will shift to 3rd if you floor it, but 3rd or 4th is a good gear vs starting in 6th and flooring it, S4 ensures you don’t need to manually shift again since the top of 4th is go to jail speeds (110 mph or more). From 0 mph doesn’t really matter since it’s in first gear anyways and will hold if WOT.

Still parked in the shop though. Not enough coolant to top off the radiator or IC system. :frusty:

But talk about pucker factor cranking that thing over for the first time since tearing the motor down...
