Yep, except I have a 12/12 pitch. I'm not going up there.
I'm hoping for a minor tropical storm or a strong nor'easter to take a few more shingles off so the insurance will cover a new roof.

FBI said shooter was college aged
Shooter went thru stairwells and into the roof
He then jumped off the roof, ditched the rifle in some woods and ran into a neighborhood
FBI has pix of him but doesn’t want to disseminate yet as they try to ID him first

8 years is a long time. I understand the pension situation, but why spend 8 more years here? Just do it. Ha! I'm somewhat isolated from all the "stuff" down here, but you can't make much $ here in Alamosa. A good place to retire if you can deal with the wind and fairly cold winter temps. Kind of boring in the winter. Florida is a free state with lots of things to do.

I hate this state as well. We're here because of my wife's job, too. One more year. If that. She won't need to work anymore and we are GONE.

It's crazy, I was born and raised mostly in UT (spent some time in TX during high school), and have lived in a total of 8 states and 4 countries as an adult; But I've never lived in a place that I've looked forward to leaving as badly as here.

That's tough for me to admit too, as I'm usually able to adapt really well, without compromising who I am. But that was single Matt. Now I'm trying to start a family and I've come to understand that my family needs a community that shares our values.

I've met some really good people here. Some of which have become good friends, and I've come to understand they struggle too. In the past year, 3 of them and their families have deliberately moved out of state. These aren't young guys either - these are established guys who want better for their families and are willing to make that sacrifice.

I can say this as a person who was born and lives in Kaliforniastan and have also lived in a much more individual-rights-centric state, that you will be happier living amongst more like minded people, whatever/wherever that may be.

All that being said, this political culture war will follow you wherever you live. The culture war is there by design, how you choose to engage with it and let it influence you is 100% your choice. I'll say it till my last breath, those in power want us divided. Don't let them take away from your happiness and don't let their influence fill you with hatred of others.

Same goes for WA, at least eastern WA isn't psychotic like Seattle is.
I'm here for at least 15 more years for my pension.

Trouble is my wife's family has deep roots here and we built on land that has been in her family for 120+ years.

We have enough room for my kids to each build a forever home on. Going to be hard to walk away

Feeder goldfish, the kind they sell to feed other fish. Only about $0.25 (so maybe $10.00 Canadian).
This reminds me when my son was about 9 he wanted a fish (he's 21 now) so we went and bought a 5 gallon tank and all the fixings, and he picked out one of those fancy cichlids with the long tails on their fins. Like $8.00 fish. The thing died overnight, so after some crying we went back to the store. He picked out one of the 0.25 cent goldfish, named it buddy. That fish lived for 10 years!

When our younger daughter was about five, she decided she wanted an aquarium. We bought the five gallon tank, got it all set up and prepped, and added fish. The next morning we heard "See! I told you they laid down when they went to sleep!" We explained the situation and there was great sadness, but no tears. It turned out that we'd only used half enough of the water prep drops. We redid the prep, bought new fish, and all was well.

It takes a month for an aquarium to properly cycle to the point where you can actually add fish. If you add fish before that, they will die due to ammonia in the aquarium.

My battallion chief and I were having this same discussion this morning. We have several members that weren't born yet that are now FF's and learned (hopefully) about 9/11 in school. Our county 911 center dropped tones for moments of silence for all 4 flights this morning and it was if time stopped...nobody in my station spoke a word.

I agree that the last time we all came together was on 9/12/01, and hasn't happened again since, and it is depressing.

Two blondes were driving to Disneyland. Saw a sign, Disneyland left.

She can retire in 8 years. Unless she finds an internal remote position, she has to remain XX miles from her workplace, in the event her computer or internet goes down.
