The crazy part is that tomorrow is 9/11. I remember what it felt like to be an American on 9/12. For the first time in my life we were one people united. We could have achieved anything in that moment.

Those 24 years just flew by and there are kids who graduated from college who weren't even alive that day. Time just seems to move at it's own cadence whether we perceive it or not.

It's your birthday. Do what you think is best. I just know our tomorrows are promised for none of us. If we can pause and celebrate something and affirm life, then we should.

    Questionable judgment
I just read an article about who Charlie Kirk was.

Obviously, it would have been a better idea for me if I knew who he was. Because I don’t, I think it would be a good idea for me to leave this forum, since I have shared probably too much information. I’m now realizing that the forum is more political than I thought it was, which is pretty naive of me. Fuzzy, wishful thinking on my part. There’s really just no place for me in this digital world, and that’s fine. I consider myself a moderate, but that term is a thing of the past. I have to laugh just writing that.

I did put a piece of land under contract on Sunday. The move will be a PITA, but it’s a way to get my girls to a safer place. Both getting rid of stairs, and in a neighborhood that’s more of an enclave. It will be a semi-custom home, so maybe I’ll get that rooftop gun turret I’ve always dreamed of. The meek aren’t going to inherit the earth, that’s for sure.

    IMG_6992.jpg

Sticking to gardening pics would have been a better idea than plainly admitting that I have no idea who Kirk was.

I appreciated meeting you guys and BSing for a while. I guess that’s it.

    Be careful out there. :hattip:

It’s not political. It’s part of history now for our world. It doesn’t matter which side ur on; the fact that he was targeted and killed for voicing his opinions is not ok

Exactly, there should be no sides when it comes to assassinations and murder. People who advocate violence do so to discourage dialogue and discourse which is the only way two people who disagree on something can bridge the gap between themselves.

I find it incredibly ironic that 24 years ago we as a nation were attacked and united and have done nothing but attack each other and divide further since then. The only people who can ever defeat America are Americans themselves...

Our country just keeps becoming more and more divided. Most of it is the medias fault, imo.

I also put it at the feet of the politicians. A divided people are easier to manipulate and control. Not to mention willingly throw money at reelection campaigns.

Dont go anywhere... It is not worth feeling casted for. This group is tolerant, appreciative and overall, a good group of humans. And I put you in that same category.

Also, a lot of what was said after you posted, I agree with.

I didn't know who he was either. Straight up my first thought was "that's the dude from all the memes". I was also worried it was too political a focus for the forum, but we all have our own "center".

Over the 5+ years here on the forum, I've been pleasantly surprised on many occasions when someone posts something that's the opposite of what I expected. I've been offended over the years, but it's part of life and the internet. Sometimes I just brush it off and move one, other times I take a hiatus from the forum for a period and find my center again. I've enjoyed your posts and sharing, so know you're appreciated here.

The fact that you're moving the family for your family makes you more alike most of us than different.

Not quite sure why you feel the need to take an exit. If you read anything about Charlie, you should have come across the fact that one of his biggest missions was to create an open forum for people who disagree to communicate in a civilized manner. You've demonstrated your ability to do that so feel welcome and know that this forum has people from all walks of life and creeds here, but the reason why it has stood the test of time is that we all love Tundras. Common ground is all society needs to coexist - we just need to find it again.

Exactly. I married into a family with very different views than mine, and I consider myself middle of the road. So very different is extreme to me, either way, we all got along. Politics mostly stayed out of discussions.
Except for my MIL. She has very strong opinions and loves to start on politics in social gatherings.
For several years I would pass through a group where she was sitting and make a comment that I knew she would strongly disagree with, whether I agreed with it or not. That would set her off and I would excuse myself, "I have to check on the grill".
My wife finally said to stop doing that, so I said yes ma'am.
