Any experience with a standard flooded lead acid battery and the various alternator voltage boosting techniques?

I'm wondering if the +0.5V boost would be long term detriment to my batteries life. It's a little over 2 years old now.

My truck with a Duralast Gold seems to like to sit at 13.2/13.5V at idle, the standard "float" charge range. But i haven't noticed it go up to the 14.2V for bulk charging even when first started and the engine is cold.

When I do need a new battery I plan on finding an AGM.
