    Hello all,
About two years ago I purchased a 2020 Platinum 4x4 with 3k miles. The original owner added trd exhaust, skidplate, swabars, amp running boards… lots of stuff. I added snugtop rebel shell, 5160/8112/ RAS HD, trans cooler all to setup for a travel trailer. Just purchased an Ibex 19MBH that came with a Curt equalizer.
Question for the experienced trailer tow folks. When hitched and bars installed both truck and trailer are level when fully loaded (trailer is 5,700 loaded 4,300 empty). I haven’t done the cat scale but the truck does feel a little loose in the rear, especially when windy. What am I missing?

    Too many, but not enough....
Sway control id say. A different weight distribution hitch is probably necessary.

@IanG I would say this is probably what is missing, but in description you said you had a sway bar. Did you connect it? A shop? Was it from a local seller, dealer? If from a local seller, they will have it set up differently because of a different truck. The other add ons on your truck, while awesome, can start to subtract from tow ability to a degree. The truck is capable.

To also ask, when you say loose, it feels it is swaying? Can you explain a little more?

Further, I want to make sure I understand, you added a shell to the truck itself?

There are others here that tow more than I did and do, but at 5700 lbs, plus you, your family, gear, any add on to the truck, that all adds weight. I would encourage loading everything up as though you are going on a normal trip and then run it over the Cat scales. Use the sticker in the door to see what your limit is for the truck.

@ColoradoTJ , @Blue Thunder, and others are very knowledgeable about this stuff.

If you are under weight, I would be shocked, but as @MadMaxCanon said, a sway setup would be my next look to make sure it is set up correctly.

What is the curt sway control/LDH rated for? What is your actual tongue weight?

Apologies, I have the Curt 10k equalizer hitch. The hitch was set up by a local rv shop. The sway control assembly is ordered but hasn’t arrived.
I have 34x9.5” At3 on Black Rhino 17” forged rims. Hitch weight is right at 500lbs with the bars installed.
I just completed a couple of adjustments, went from 35psi to 50 in the rear of the truck. Going to take it for a test run tomorrow to see if it feels better.

Ok. I would say to let us know about the tests today and then when the sway control comes in, set that up and test again as though you are camping. I have a suspicion that will take care of it.

Ok, turns out several things were compounding on this. Trailer tires were about 25psi over pressure, set the truck tires to 45 psi rear on the truck and 40 on the front and adjusted the hitch, the tech that installed it messed up about everything. It tows great now. Appreciate the help.
