I bought some Amsoil 0w-20 for my first oil change.

I will be using Toyota filters.

Following is the online "AI summary" returned when I asked what oil was used in the one million mile Tundra.

"The owner of the million-mile Toyota Tundra, Victor Sheppard, used 0W-20 oil and changed it every 10,000 miles, along with other meticulous maintenance using Toyota parts, to achieve his record-breaking mileage.

    Here are the key details:
    • Oil Type: 0W-20
    • Oil Change Interval: Every 10,000 miles
    • Vehicle: A 2007 Toyota Tundra with a 4.7-liter V8 engine
    • Other Maintenance: Sheppard maintained the truck with meticulous, regular service using Toyota parts throughout. "
It's nice to know I could run 5w-30 if I wanted to; I used 5w30 mobile 1 in my Colorado 3.5l 5 cylinder for 195k miles with zero engine problems.
GM recommended that viscosity for that engine though.

Whatever this forum told me to do
how long did it take him to run 10k?

    a couple weeks?

you need to factor that in.

he probably had 1/3 of the applicable engine hours on those 10k changes.

and they were easy hwy miles...regardless of load.

I use Valvoline Restore and Protect 0w20 in my 5.7

FYI 5w30 is quieter in my engine but I’ve done several oil analyses comparing 0w20 and 5w30 and I don’t have any discernible differences in wear numbers between 0w20 and 5w30.

These AI results are still garbage 90% of the time. The 2UZ never used 0W-20. It has always required 5W-30 and that's what was used in Victor's 2007. I'm not sure what OCI was used on that. In my 100 series (also 2UZ powered), its every 5k miles.

Victor's second million mile Tundra, which was a 2014 with the 3UR, did hit a million miles on 10k mile OCIs with 0W-20.

I’d venture to guess that a million miles driven by me in my 50’s is not the same as a million miles driven by a 20’s me…

Distance is the same, but there is a zero.zero percent chance I could have made a motor last 300K in my 20’s. It was either full throttle or full brakes. Very little in between…

I honestly think as long as you are actually changing your oil regularly that weight and brand don't matter all that much (unless you go ape shit with the weight). People have used 0w-20 in their trucks from day one with 200K+ miles and others have used 5w-30 with 200K+. If you have the Toyota tick or some seeping try 5W-30. If not and you're happy with how it runs/sounds on 0w-20, great! Don't overthink it.

I’ve run Amsoil signature since day one, just switched to 0w-40.

This is the oil I use in my 2002 4.7L and my 2007 5.7L
It gets changed about every 4,000 and I use OEM Toyota filters.
