Alas, an unusual summer thunderstorm overnight 17/18 July prevented my observation of Titan's shadow transiting Saturn.

Perhaps skies will cooperate for the 03 August event?

I observed Titan's shadow mid-transit this A.M. Seeing was good, though not excellent, and the shadow was positioned perhaps 60% of the way from the ring-plane toward the pole. Rhea and Dione also seen, but not Tethys nor Enceladus.

    CG-5 supported C-8 & ES 6.7mm.

    Next event 19 August.

Venus & Jupiter are drawing nearer to each other in the eastern pre-dawn sky.

Tuesday morning they will be closest.

Tonight's seeing was excellent and I observed Titan's shadow at mid-transit of Saturn where the black dot was perhaps 80% of the way from the ring-plane toward the pole. Rhea and Dione seen directly, Enceladus with averted vision. Tethys not seen.

Had a look at nearby Neptune, as well.

    CG-5 supported C-8 & ES4.7mm.

    Next event: 04 September.

Binocular observations 19 AUG 25: only Solar system objects, consisting of Saturn & Neptune after midnight, then the 17% illuminated Moon, Jupiter, Venus & Mercury near dawn.

I observed Titan's shadow transit of the ringed-planet this morning and the seeing was very good though not quite excellent, for the most part. The shadow was perhaps 85% of the way from the ring-plane toward the pole at mid-transit, with Titan just off the limb.

Rhea & Dione were grouped together some distance away, while Tethys was very close to the rings, Enceladus just off the end of the rings opposite the other moons. All seen with direct vision.

The inner-ring blackness against the planet's limbs clearly seen.

My best view of Saturn thus far, during the current apparition.

    GM8 supported C-Nine-Two-Five & ES 6.7mm.

After posting my Titan shadow transit report, I went back out to have a look at nearby Neptune & Triton.
