There’s a thread or sticky that goes through all this. Maybe a replacement frame, that looks bad. Be safe.

I would check if there are any used car lemon laws in your state or any legal means of returning it. That vehicle shouldn’t have passed a safety inspection.

If no, you can look into things like safe-t-cap solutions from www.autorust.com or another vendor who does the same (can’t remember their name).

Yikes! That's about as bad as I've seen. Expensive lesson to inspect prior to purchasing a vehicle.

    Good luck.

Unfortunately, that screenshot of a video does not look like a candidate for a patch job. That looks to be a frame replacement. Often times, when the frame is that smoked, the underbody, bed, brake lines, and axle mounts are also smoked.

Insight: 1)Hope you didn't pay a lot. 2)PPI would have gotten you out of this mess. 3)If that's an indication of what the whole frame looks like, get it off the road! You are in danger of killing yourself and someone else. 4)More than likely, the only solution is to find a donor truck and swap frames. 5)How deep are your pockets? 6)Sorry to be blunt, but hopefully you learned a valuable (hopefully not too costly) life lesson.

I’ve seen that type of rust damage personally and I’m 80-90% convinced it’s from rusting inside out. So while the rest of the frame may just look rusty (assumption here), it’s really not in great shape from a longevity point of view.

What state are you in? Seems like you got hosed on the sale. Might have to take legal action to be able to return it. Sooner the better.

Only option I see based on that one pic is to go after the entity who sold it to you

So for clarification, you bought it not knowing it had this frame rust and it was not disclosed to you?

Also (trying to be as nice as possible because I didn't know your situation), how is it that you purchased a vehicle and didn't inspect it yourself?

It's not uncommon. We've all seen pics here of very nice looking Gen1s... until ya get a look at the underbelly. The previous owner didn't bother to take action to prevent the rust, and the new buyer didn't bother to look. Gee... what a good looking truck. I'll take it!

Not helped by the fact that there are now approx 14 states that no longer require safety inspections. That was at least a basic standard that a vehicle had to meet. If it did not at least pass that.......

We don't care about safety just so long as that deathtrap isn't pouting the ozone

You don't have an issue with frame rust. You have parts of your frame missing. That truck is unsafe to be on the road. This will be an expensive lesson unfortunately.

Much as I did not want to laugh at another's misfortune, I kinda did at this one. But if you REALLY want to live up to that great username, you need to add a can of black rustoleum.

On a more serious note, some states require disclosure, especially if OP got it at a dealer. They may be able to bring a small claims case.
