Live in Twin Cities,Mn. Had Cooper snow tires on my Sienna. Came in handy most winters. Getting to work on time when I did not plan ahead. Parking on shoulders of country roads going to winter events or estate sales. Just generally more confidence when out and about in winter snowy weather. I have stock rims and all season radials on now that came with the truck. No plans til spring for new wheels and ridge grapplers and small lift. Is it overkill to have dedicated snow tires on an awesome tundra 4x4? Thanks for any advice. Peace. D

If you've got the cash it's not overkill at all. Nothing better than a set of dedicated snows. Plus you'll get a few extra years out of your 3 season tires. If I had the money if have a set of snow tires on wheels and my other tires for the rest of the year.

NOKIAN Kokapellita R2 is the best tire I've found and I drive on lots of snow, hardpack, and ice. I always run a dedicated snow tire because I'm competent on the above mentioned surfaces and I drive a little faster than most on snow and hardback. On ice I drive REALLY slow no matter what

I run blizzaks on my Tundra in the winter. Run Hakkas on my SUV. Both great winter tires. Blizzaks a little softer and better on ice. Hakkas handle better on dry roads.

Surprisingly Big O carries a fairly inexpensive option and do a buy 3 get 1 free on the Arctic Claw. They are made by Cooper and at $160 a tire the buy 3 get 1 free deal is an extremely good option. That's what I'm doing this year and feel very confident in their capabilities

You're in N.Y. and I'm in CO. I bet you have icier conditions. For our OP I would assume your perspective would be more accurate for his needs

Probably. Bottom line, snow tires > all season in winter conditions. I've had Hankook Ipikes - good, General Altimax - good, Firestone Winterforce - loud and rough riding. I prefer Blizzaks and Hakkas.
