I'm not a big believer in that stuff creeping into threads very far. IMO I wouldn't worry about contamination, it would be so miniscule "I" wouldn't worry. BUT, I'd be careful with how it may react with the foam insulation more than anything. Impact is the way.

Didn't even think to take pics 'til after buttoning it up and POST'ing it to verify all was OK, but every 3-4 year battery pack rebuild for the data closet battery backup today. I guess $40 every 3-4 years is better than having to buy a new one. One of these days I should probably migrate to a rack-mount unit. This thing has a really f'n annoying setup where the batteries sit "69" to each other with a shim, and one side is damn near impossible to plug in. Pisses me off every time.

Y'all convinced me to apply pneumatic power to my water heater. I'll report back tomorrow if you need to come help me replace it.

I think it was originally @T-Rex266 ’s idea… I was all for you returning it and waiting for your water heater to shit out on you.

I finally replaced my old white APC that looked like that after about 12-14 years, it could no longer keep thing on at the start of an outage, even after new batteries.
Costco was clearing out some Cyberpower 1350va units for $100 a few months ago, so I grabbed one.
I have a 1500 and the 1350 powering my 2 computers, monitors, security camera DVR, and network gear. the computers will power off after 5 minutes, so i will have another 30+ minutes of the network still up.

This is the unit I usually install at customer sites: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0016P7HJA

It'll usually keep a 24-48 port POE switch, UDM gateway, a couple APs and a dozen POE cameras up for around an hour. Really makes the APC BX1500 pictured look like a slouch.

EDIT: They also have a much more affordable 500VA version that will keep 100W of stuff up (IIRC) 15-20 mins: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000XJJN60/

If you have room for a 2U UPS, maybe look at this unit with pure sine wave instead of simulated sine wave. comes in cheaper and has the same battery capacity using 2 12V 9AH instead of 4 6V 9AH batteries. does have a shorter cord.

I think he recommended a breaker bar, which would have been the same as what I already did.
I'll put a 100 psi of pneumatic goodness on it tomorrow. Either it works or I replace my water heater tomorrow.
Either way, it gives me something to do.

I'm sure you will have complete victory over the dreaded nut. How long has the anode been in your tank? We here are anxiously waiting to see what it looks like, because that's what we do here. :)

Wife and I's anniversary is in about two weeks. Decided instead of getting the traditional gifts, to replace our washer and dryer. While they still work, we have hated them for the entire 7-8 years we've owned them. Washer can't balance itself to save its life. The dryer has to run 2 full cycles on the highest heat to dry a load of towels. Just non of it performs anywhere close to what we expected. They are whirlpool made in USA models that were not cheap when we bought them, both have broken multiple times.

So it might not be romantic, but both of us are super excited. Replacements will be speed queen 5 series. We almost went for the front load 7 series fancy pants ones, but the motivator there was fitting a king sized blanket, and I realized if I just get a new blanket, it could save us 2-3k in machine costs AND I could get the simple made 5 series that we both wanted. No screens, no energy star, just good ol' mechanical washing power! Local company has a pretty big sale going on right now so the timing was just adding up and we went for it. So in two weeks I'll know if they are as good as people say, or if its just hype!:fingerscrossed:

Sadly, a lot of times I’m installing 4U or 6U racks, so space is at a premium. Depth is an issue too because the 2U are typically deeper than the rack (shorter-U racks I prefer with top/bottom brace often max out around 13-14”). Else I’d love to go with the 2U units. I can only consider those when using a larger framed adjustable rack 8U+, assuming mounting dept of the rack space allows.

I don't mind. I'm ok sharing it cuz i wish people would be more transparent and just say it.
30x50 shop at 16' ceilings with a 20x50 lean to attached with concrete, 1 door, and 2 10x12 roll up doors was 55k.
I added some dirt to my existing pad we had built up before (built pad for 20x40 10 years ago when we built). With the extra dirt and the extra concrete to connect the driveway made it about 71k (concrete is expensive at about $7 a square finished).
This is no electrical, plumbing, permits, etc.

The guy doing it is a small operation and got him from word of mouth (my favorite type of advertising personally). Wasn't the quickest, but not an issue for me. He also did it where if you needed dirt, you'd pay him for the dirt and he'd spread it for free. Worked for us. He was straight forward too. Concrete was $6/Sq, but he charged $7 so he'd make $1 a square for setting it up and all.
Gonna need to do electrical soon. Hopefully within the next year I can get it done.

    I put 150 psi to it, and...nothing.
I returned the anode and got my $37 back.

The tank was installed 10 years ago, so that's how long the anode has been there.

MOST other places around me are typically closer to that too. One guy that's close to me was very close to the price, but he and the company have a very crooked past (original owner faked death and fled country for a few years to avoid paying things).
Lots of reputable places around me would have been about 10k+ more for the same build.
I'm hoping electrical comes soon. Prob be around 8k to have it ran the way I want

The bottom of my dishwasher door started leaking water over the weekend, checked the usual suspect door seals, and was just about to order some parts until I checked out some Y-Tube vids. Lots of vids there with the same problem, but some came back with a solution I wouldn't have figured out in a million years. Seems over time the lower sprayer wand can weaken at the seams and although looking perfectly fine, it sprays out directly at the lower door
seal overwhelming it and causing it to leak. Like I said before, never would have thought to look at that, replaced it today and the leak is gone. :notsure:
