    Good day!

I just purchased my first Tundra (and first Toyota). In my younger college days I owned a 1981 Toyota Corolla liftback and drove it for 13 years before selling it. Since that time I have owned mostly Ford and Chevrolet products, including my 1995 F150 (still driving it today). I recently sold my CX-5 to my daughter (great car btw) so she had transportation in college and needed a vehicle. I bought it Saturday and love it! I have been observing the launch of the 3rd gen and became concerned early on, crossing my fingers that Toyota has hammered out the bugs! I bought a Limited 4x4 in the color smoked mesquite, which initially wasn't my first choice but liked the color in person. My first two mods will be covering up the piano gloss piece on the console and installing black Tundra lettering on the tailgate. Should I purchase both on Amazon vs OEM? Please let me know. Glad to be a member.

New here as well. Just purchased my first tundra as well. I had a 2016 Tacoma previously and just found it too cramped (I’m not a big guy either). Getting in and out, I was always finding I had to duck down so I wouldn’t hit my head on the a pillar. We’ve had our tundra for about 10 months now and so far it’s been mostly good. Not a big fan of the terrible fuel mileage but hopefully it gets better. I also had a couple rams previous to the Tacoma which I couldn’t wait to get rid of. The first one made it to 60000km before needing a complete new front end (ball joints, tie rods, brakes etc). The second one needed brakes all around at 30000km. The Tacoma required nothing for the 3 years that I owned it except a really good clean inside and out. I put about 50000km on top of the 190000km already on it. Amazing that you can buy an old heavily used Toyota that is more reliable than a brand new dodge.

for the lettering, I almost bought the OEM but I ended up getting Amazon ones for $30 I think. The OEM were $200. I can buy multiple sets from Amazon for that ridiculous price. I also bought a gently used tonneau cover and brand new take off rims from a limited super cheap.

Welcome from South Central Tennessee , and congratulations on your spanking new Tundra!

Your past ownership reminded me of a couple Toytas I owned way back when, a 79 Celica GT

And an early 80s Celica beater of which I don't have a picture handy. Both were good cars, both manual transmission and fun to drive.

    Welcome to the forum.
