iPhone 16 CarPlay Issues

I tried searching and couldn’t find this issue - just a lot of people talking about their favorite wireless CarPlay dongles.

I finally upgraded to the iPhone 16. That means the USB—>lightning cable won’t work with this phone.

I prefer CarPlay-over-wire vs wireless, but it’s not working with a USB—>USB-C cable. Has anyone else had this issue?

You likely need to update the software on your head unit. Once I did that I have had no issues with basically the same setup you have except mine is a 2020.

It drove me bonkers. Make sure your cable is data (and not just power) compatible. Make sure you have the most current iOS. Update your Toyota head unit with the most current update. The last one did it for me.

You'll need a USB drive formatted with FAT32.

yeah I saw a YT video regarding power vs data cables. Gonna try that tomorrow.

 

It was the cord. There’s evidently USB A to C cables that can’t transmit data.
